Car wont start again. Ive just had a brand new 530Ah battery put onto the car.

Its totally dead, no fuel pump on 1st ignition. But I have full lights, locking, stereo etc. If I turn the ignition all the way on and hold it as far as it will go the radiator fan will come on for as long as the key is held in that position.

Wierd.

My car is 1999 preplexed 1.6.

This fault is intermittant and will sometimes be absolutley fine again 10mins later but today it hasnt started at all.

Checked the inertia switch and the contacts going to that?

Wiring goes fuse > inertia > fuel pump

Does it turn over?

Yeah thats a good point as the internal electrics are earthed near the drivers door.

The fuel pump is earthed in the back [same place where you earth an amp]

Earthing point near the handbrake.

ECU is earthed near the drivers light

Then there's the other big earthing points [gearbox, etc]

Does it start if you "jiggle" the key?

check the earth lead from the battery to the gearbox and the body/chassis of the car. very common for these to snap and cause all kinds of hell for electrics

try getting hold of another fuel cut off switch and give that a whirl, if not try get faults read and go from there, could be a aerial fault for the immobiliser ,
