Had you driven the car between resetting and the light coming back on?
Reason I ask is that I had the ABS sensors disconnected to do the rear axle etc and when I rebuilt it all back the ABS light was on.
I think it requires a short drive (upto 15 mph ??) to allow the ABS to be calibrated by the ECU, because as I took the car for a test drive the light went out and has not been on since. Also tested out the ABS once I was fully back on the road and all OK.
Just to note this is only a guess, but I have speed sensors (just like an ABS sensor) on the trains I work on and this principle works for them.
