#1: 1.6 8v Engine Swap Author: Abzynthe, Posted: Sat Feb 26, 2011 6:03 pm ---- Well.....What a day.
First off, I would like to thank Addaz, Kencoboy, Kencogirl, Danny and Liam-HuTch for helping me out.
We have just spent most of today swapping the engine from my brothers smashed up car and my car.
All thats left to do now is get the fluids tomorrow morning and start it up
I have massive Kudos for the above as they managed to swap the engines with nothing more than a trolley jack, a socket set and spanners!!
They managed to swap the entire sub frame from one car to the other.
Addaz will put a little diary of how the work went at some point, and pics will be added from through out the day

#9: Re: 1.6 8v Engine Swap Author: Abzynthe, Posted: Sun Feb 27, 2011 2:08 pm ---- Ill get the video up in daylight
God, what a palava it was to get it started lol.
We had Liams ecu plugged in, it would turn over but wouldnt start. Put my ecu back in, same thing
SO, I went to swap the engine looms, but came up with a plan. I compared the two engine loom connectors and found that one wire was in a different place. I put it right, without having to change the whole loom. Tried to start it, still nothing.
Lee plugged PP into it and it couldnt read the engine. So, we put my ecu in, and IT LIVED.
All thats left to do is reinstalled the airbox and battery tray, bleed the brakes and its ready to go
Only thing ive found wrong with it now, is that the fuel gauge doesnt work
