Ok av had a look at the fuses under the bonnet and fuse 5 was blown (10amp) all the other fuses were ok. I replaced this and the light still won't work ... Wil need to check the other fuses inside the car under the dash hmmm.... Any ideas ?

Fuse 5 is a 10amp fuse for the ECU

Do you have a multimeter or test light? so that you can test if there is power going to the bulb?>

does the dipped beam work in the same headlamp? or is that not working as well as the main beam

#15: Re: blown a fuse ? Author: davieboy76, Location: scotland PostPosted: Wed Mar 02, 2011 12:04 pm

The sidelight works and so does the main beam it's the dipped that's not working

Take it forgranted then that you checked all the fuses with you noticing fuse 5 was broke?

If the fuse it fine and the main beam is working, you've either damaged the bulb holder/connector or there's a break in the wiring from the short circuit

Yeah I checked all the fuses under the bonnet and they were all fine .. The plastic connector that the bulb connects into is damaged it's melted . It was like that when I bought the car and the light was working .. But the plastic holder itself has kinda fell to bits but surely if you plug the spade connectors to the bulb it would still work ?

i found fuse 11 (10 amp) was blown in the fuse box in next to the car battery. i was shouting at my morrettes wondering why the high beam wasnt working on my drivers side. "I kept saying to myself it cant be a fuse, why would they fuse 1 bulb" Laughing

Guess what it was a fuse... Wink

just pull all fuses out one by one and check them. MAKE SURE YOUR CAR'S batttery is disconnected safely
