I dont think its a fuse or anything. This system works on a wire that when you twist it pulls tighter and looser making it faster. Maybe it needs adjusting?

They system have wires only for (Hot & Cold),and the direction of the air,but to start the motor it's pure electric switch,so the problem with his switch is it's worn out due to long time of use,and as we all know that the "1" is the first and always to use,so that makes worn most than other like 2,3,4.
So the fix for your heater is a new switch, and everything will be back to normal

#7: Re: DAMN HEATER! Author: bashyy1, Location: Milton KeynesPosted: Wed Mar 02, 2011 12:22 pm ---- No thats the panel console, Ill get a link for you 1 sec.And its simple.....I did it so it must be:p
#9: Re: DAMN HEATER! Author: MrrNoName, Location: UKPosted: Wed Mar 02, 2011 12:24 pm ---- oh thats good news, i take it that is on the back of the console? does it plug in directly to the back of the switch?
if so, ive gotta take the center console off, take the panel out and replace that at the back of the panel?
thnx for yr help
#10: Re: DAMN HEATER! Author: bashyy1, Location: Milton KeynesPosted: Wed Mar 02, 2011 12:25 pm ---- Just take out the glove box, and you should see the heater motor, twist it clockwise....its VERY stiff...but its do-able by hand unplug it then take the motor out once its out you'll b able to fit your hand in and feel in, look at the link so you know what your feeeling for then just twist that and unplug it and plug the new one in. Done....30 min job
#11: Re: DAMN HEATER! Author: bashyy1, Location: Milton KeynesPosted: Wed Mar 02, 2011 12:26 pm ---- No need to take the center console out at all..just follow the above and you'll do it.
#12: Re: DAMN HEATER! Author: bashyy1, Location: Milton KeynesPosted: Wed Mar 02, 2011 12:28 pm ---- Go to peugeot give them your car reg and get a replacement rheostat or control resistor as they are sometimes known for the heater.
Then go home!
Make a nice cup of tea as you will be going a while!
Then get hold of a Torx 20 Screwdriver and a torch.
You will need to take out the glovebox so you may as well empty it first.
You need to take the cover off the glovebox open it but dont let it all way down just pull it out while it's still vertical otherwise it doesnt come out.
Then you need to take out the screws behind the glovebox cover with the T20 screwdriver and also if you look closely there is another screw inside the glovebox facing upwards, ( i missed that for a while! )
Ok once you have taken all of those out you should be able to push the glovebox down and out there will be some wires attached to the left hand side, detach them taking note of how they go in.
Right glovebox out!
Now you need to take out the fan blower.
SO what you need to do is stick your torch and head in behind the glovebox and if you look as if towards the central console but from behind you will see a round looking object with one screw in.
You need to take that screw out and then turn the thing clockwise. ( This will be really really tight so you need to twist hard, it took me a good few attempts )
Once you have dislodged it there is a clip that goes into the top of the fan for the power, you must take that out and then pull the blower out.
Once you have done this you can reach inside the air duct and you will feel the rheostat. Grab hold of it, twish it to unlock it from its place and pull it towards you.
Once you have done that, then just unplug it out of the socket and then plug the new one in, then push it back to where it was and twist it back to lock it into place.
Put the fan back in and plug the wire in making sure you dont get the wire caught in the air duct.
Screw fan screw back in.
Replace glovebox!
your done!
There you go....thats the "Workaround" I used when i did it a few weeks back.
#13: Re: DAMN HEATER! Author: MrrNoName, Location: UKPosted: Wed Mar 02, 2011 12:30 pm ---- hmm ok lol. what does it plug into if its not the back of the control panel?
#14: Re: DAMN HEATER! Author: bashyy1, Location: Milton KeynesPosted: Wed Mar 02, 2011 12:32 pm ---- The resistor is just mounted somewhere behind the motor with a wire going into it...so that wire must go to the control panel.
#15: Re: DAMN HEATER! Author: MrrNoName, Location: UKPosted: Wed Mar 02, 2011 12:39 pm ---- wts the difference between this one?
#16: Re: DAMN HEATER! Author: bashyy1, Location: Milton KeynesPosted: Wed Mar 02, 2011 12:42 pm ---- If i were you i'd call peugeot and get it from them, It'll be cheaper than the first one. About £25 iirc. and it'll probly last longer.
#17: Re: DAMN HEATER! Author: MrrNoName, Location: UKPosted: Wed Mar 02, 2011 12:45 pm ---- thats a plan lol, whats the exact name of the part i need so they arnt like "what?" on the parts desk lol
#18: Re: DAMN HEATER! Author: bashyy1, Location: Milton KeynesPosted: Wed Mar 02, 2011 12:47 pm ---- Lol they wont be d.w and Heater motor blow resistor. They'll know what it is:)
#19: Re: DAMN HEATER! Author: Rusky, Location: suffolkPosted: Wed Mar 02, 2011 5:43 pm ---- what about a fix for heat not the blower just no heat im bloody frozen at the mo

air lock in your heater matrix ? tried bleeding the system?
#21: Re: DAMN HEATER! Author: Rusky, Location: suffolkPosted: Thu Mar 03, 2011 2:45 pm ---- Bleed cooling system flushed matrix bit wobbly me think rad is hot and cold as it want not as it should be the pipes on the matrix 1 is hot 1 is cold

#23: Re: DAMN HEATER! Author: MrrNoName, Location: UKPosted: Wed Jun 29, 2011 9:00 am ---- Final Update:
It was indeed the blower motor resistor stopping both the blowers and the air conditioning from working. I purchased a new one from pug (about £20) and fitted it to solve the problem. Upon removal it was obvious that the old resistor had blown (one of the coils had broken)
I found fitting the resistor to be fairly easy and followed this method:
1. Unplug battery
2. Remove glovebox, first the lid (unclips) then the screws (6 screws around the outer edge, 1 hidden on the inside top of the box) then the box pushes down and out
3. The blower motor is located to the right hand side behind the glovebox. unclip the plug from the motor, then turn it 1/4 CLOCKWISE. it feels very stiff but suddenly unclips and comes loose.
4. Look into the pipe and you will be able to see the silver resistor attached to the top. Reach into the intake pipe and turn the resistor to free it from the pipe, then pull it into the pipe and unclip it from its plug (the hardest part).
5. Plug the new resistor in (also difficult with 1 hand) and put it back into the top of the pipe, then refit the motor by turning it 1/4 ANTI-CLOCKWISE.
re-connect the battery and all blower settings and the air-con should now work (mmm icy cold )
This procedure worked on a 1.4 (Y) reg 206 and was far easier then attempting to use the air recirculation pipe (found it way to small for my hands to get in) but may be different for other makes and models
#24: Re: DAMN HEATER! Author: tezza1348, Posted: Sun Nov 11, 2012 4:57 pm ---- is this same procedure for a 206gti 2ltre
