#1: Aux Belt making loud noise when idle Author: bendonn, Location: PortsmouthPosted: Thu Mar 03, 2011 3:01 pm ---- Hey guys,
(2.0L hdi 2001)
Just wanted some advice - aux belt is making a really loud noise when idle, it seems to quieten when i puts revs on! any clues as to what needs to be done here and how complicated the job will be.
Many thanks.

If so have you looked at the aux tensioner? should be in line with the other pulleys. If its not it might be that. Has the belt jumped at all? have you tried some sort of maintenance spray on the tensioner to see if it shuts up? Ive had this problem before in my 406 (DW10TD 2.0 HDi engine)
It might be something else in your case but thought it might be worth mentioning

#4: Re: Aux Belt making loud noise when idle Author: skard, Location: UK - NorthPosted: Thu Mar 03, 2011 4:29 pm ---- i have the same issue on a 1.4hdi right now.
it still persists even after changing the crank pulley, tensioner and aux belt. i think i'm going to have to swap out the rest of the rollers as it is intolerable now.
if you look at the belt with the engine running does it seem like there's slack in it on the bottom? also does it appear as if the tensioner is jumping about on idle? in my case, when revs are applied it tightens it up = noise going away.

Skard, What you have described there is preety much it mate, it goes away when i apply revs but when idle it is really noisy and it looks as though the belt is slightly off the pulleys!
Im going to try and change the belt and tensioner pulley to start with
