#1: Ecosse price for repair. Author: GregorG, Location: Linlithgow PostPosted: Fri Mar 04, 2011 12:17 pm
    ----
Went to Ecosse Peugeot today because it's only five minutes from my house, and asked about getting my dented near-side wing replaced.

Spoke to Greg who was really friendly and was happy to help, and i was given a quote of round about £250 for a brand new sport wing, colour matched to my car and fitted. I've been looking for ages trying to find a second hand wing but it seems that they rarely exist in Flamenco red, so i accepted the quote and the work is getting done on monday.

What d'you guys think about that price? personally i'm happy to pay it because i know that the lads at ecosse will do a decent job, but a couple of my mates said i'm getting ripped off Razz

Ripfuckinoff..!

Direct from Peugeot a sports wing is £90 inc vat. You can get a wing sprayed and colour matched for about £60 quid.

It's not a bad price considering your getting a new wing. Also paint materials arnt cheap these days.

Paint materials.
Etch primer.
Wet on wet primer.
Basecoat.
Clearcoat.

Then Polishing and fitting.
Like I said not a bad price mate.

I purchased 2 gti wings from Brian and got ecosse to paint them and post them down to me, and it cost less than that did.

I sold a flamenco red standard wing for like £40 posted, maybe i should have charged more

pretty major scuff, has taken it down to the bare metal, would definitely have pulled it out myself otherwise

yeah blending the door and the bonnet

Door and bonnet go for it mate you won't get cheaper. My company would charge more than that.

What you looking at, about 3 hours paint and 2 hours to fit? Plus paint and sundries at about £60. Price of the wing on top. Sounds like a good price. £20 per hour is cheap.

Materials will be more than £60 mate from a body shop.

You pay for what you get in these cases.. Cheap job = just that, a quick cheap easy bit of cash from a back street sprayer who'll just spray the panel and not blend it leaving you with a shoddy finish.

Pay Ecosse prices and you know your going to walk away happy and never know anything was ever wrong with the car..

To me thats a decent price if it includes blending with both the door and the bonnet..

Their paint work etc is dear, but believe me, it's well worth paying the extra dosh for it having had a whole car done.

Look. Half of these sort of repairs is piece of mind. If you dont like the price dont pay it. If you want a w**k finish with paint that doesnt match pay £60.

If your car matter to you and you want it to be perfect pay £250. Simple. (Oh and im talking from experience here )

well said mate,

i mean fair enough i could probably get a second hand wing sprayed and fit it myself for a low price but i love my pug to bits, and if £250 is what it takes to get it back to it's original state then so be it

If only I could say the same thing...sounds like the bodyshop might be better than the rest of their outfit.

There is nothing worse than driving down the road and seeing a prestine car with obvious signs that a single panel resprayed. Even though the garage used the same colour, they can never age the paint. Blending can reduce this a hell of a lot.
Never used this lot myself, www.bodyrepairquote.com/ and probably never will. Prefer word of mouth advertising for all repairs. There is no amount of advertising that can replace a happy customers comments.

Depends on the work involved really. They tend to have different classifications of: "full re-spray" and it's how far you want to take it. They'll never quote you over the phone either as they need to see the car itself to see if there's any dents that will need extra work etc.

They had a guy in recently who bought a new c-class coupe in black but changed his mind and wanted it white. I don't know if that went ahead though? You'll find that the body shop is busy just now as they're doing LOADS of insurance repairs.
