#1: mileage not working Author: Abzynthe, Posted: Fri Mar 04, 2011 1:13 pm ---- Ive played about with my fuel gauge and now thats working, but the mileage counter isnt
The ribbon at the back has a crease in it but doesnt look broken.
any ideas?
#2: Re: mileage not working Author: Ste, Location: Hull -or- The World Of Info CodePosted: Fri Mar 04, 2011 1:45 pm ---- The crease could be the cause tbh, there pretty brittle with age and even a crease can cause them to no longer work, can you not source a new part inc a ribbon and replace the creased one?
IIRC they're soldered onto the board, but aslong as your half decent with a solder iron it's a simple enough job
Failing that, if you cant fix it get a new one and I'll have to come to a meet in Peterborough some time and solder it for you lols
#3: Re: mileage not working Author: Abzynthe, Posted: Fri Mar 04, 2011 1:57 pm ---- ah that dont sound too bad then, ill have to get it sorted, before June (MOT time) lol
#4: Re: mileage not working Author: panason1c, Location: SomersetPosted: Fri Mar 04, 2011 5:20 pm ---- If its only the mileage counter (odometer) that isnt working then dont worry about fixing it for the mot as its not an mot test item.
#5: Re: mileage not working Author: Abzynthe, Posted: Tue Mar 08, 2011 12:34 pm ---- You need a mileage recorded on MOT though dont you?

Thats exactly what i thought as it goes down on the doccumentation
#7: Re: mileage not working Author: davieboy86, Location: Kent,Posted: Tue Mar 08, 2011 12:42 pm ---- My ribbon broke, I changed the dials over and the guy said I needed to have a milage to record so I had to put in salvaged clocks so my MOT certificate says 76 thou instead of 43. I need to find some one who could help my repair it, I can find new clocks at the scrappy all day long, just no idea how to repair it
#8: Re: mileage not working Author: Abzynthe, Posted: Tue Mar 08, 2011 12:43 pm ---- does it matter if the mileage is lower than the last recorded mileage? If not, then i can just get a crappy set to put in for the MOT, as i dont fancy re-glueing my plasma dials.
#9: Re: mileage not working Author: Liam-HuTcH, Location: PeterboroughPosted: Tue Mar 08, 2011 12:45 pm ---- well mine says 30k on the mot certificates, when old ones say 80k so wouldnt of thought so
#10: Re: mileage not working Author: namgaj, Location: Chasing Ash, Addaz and Lee........... hopefully catching Addaz and havin fun :PPosted: Tue Mar 08, 2011 12:59 pm ---- If people want the same mileage what was on in the first place, there's plenty that do it- heres one near me-

Yes, its recorded on the mot certificate but it's of no concern to the mot tester, or the authorities if its the exact same mileage recorded at every mot!
#12: Re: mileage not working Author: Abzynthe, Posted: Tue Mar 08, 2011 1:38 pm ---- hmm, might just put a post it on the cluster before the MOT then lol.
