#1: Rear hub help Author: bigfella2, Location: YorkshirePosted: Sat Mar 05, 2011 10:41 am ---- A while ago a local mechanic managed to strip one of the wheel bolt threads in the rear hub on my 206 GTI. Anyway manged to get hold of a replacement hub to swap it over. Question time now - is it a case of pop off cap in centre of hub, remove hub bolt (32mm?), pull hub off a replace?
Got a breaker bar for hub bolt, but heard its still a nightmare to remove, do i need hub puller to remove hub after bolt removed, and is hub nut reusable and how tight for hub nut.
Sorry about all the questions James

You will need the remove the disk, caliper and dust shield.
Halfords do a hub puller for £12
They usually fall apart when being removed, so you may need to split the inner of the bearing, or just tap it off (but it's a tight fit).
To refit I put it on with a ring spanner between the hub and hub nut, do the nut up to push the hub on.
