i dont know then to be honest with you mate, could still be an air leak, i took my entire intake manifold off and replaced all the seals on mine just to be sure. and cleaned it all out at the same time. i made a thread on it

cheers for all your help fella, il have a look at cleaning the inleet but dont think it will make any differeance, waht does taht silver hose on the inlet do and wer does the other end go?

no problem mate its what we are here for Smile

its a breather for the main engine block or head i cant remember, goes into the block, youll be able to see it if you have a look Smile

The silver hose is for the EGR/air injection system. I never quite worked out which way the air went. It basically feeds air from the inlet into the exhaust or vice versa.

GRRRRRRR!!! Bloody car, so today i have replaced the lmbda sensor, map sensor , air temp sensor and air idle controll valve still cant work it out and its getting expensive Sad


on the gti throttle body at the back of it there are 2 hoses 1 comes from the right hand side and goes to the head and the other 1 goes off to the left and dissapears, questin is what does that one on the left do?

I think the left one goes to the fuel tank or the charcoal filter in the inner wing.

any other sugestions? i have noticed that the tail pipe girgles every now and again, and seems to have water spitting out, i know its not head gasket before any 1 sugests that Smile its more like condonsation but seems to be there all the time but doesnt help with this weather.

if you have water comming from the exhaust constantly then water ust be getting into it somehow (thats physics lol) and the coolant is the only water in the engine... are you certain your HG isnt gone? it could be water getting into a cylinder causing one to misfire every now and again, causing that popping noise and the fluctuating revs..

ye hg os fine, water level stays the same ans the water spits from the exhaust does not taste like coolent

are you sure your running it enough to get all the water out of the exhaust? mine takes a good half hour to stop steaming in cold weather.

ive got a very similar problem atm, the revs fluctuate like that, but they also drop veeery slowly and bounce up and down when you press the brake lol. i know how fooking annoying they can be to try and sort out!
