You need the motor, either a manual one or an electric one. It's the motor that holds it in place.

Pointless, you need the adjustor motors fitted as they control the up / down position of the reflector.

Without the motor fitted in place correctly the reflector will just move about.

what if once you have the motor in there still out how can you adjust them then?

mine seem to be high on the passenger side and really low on the drivers side

Play round with the white adjusting knobs...They're an allen key fitting. Turn them and the lights go up/down.

I just got in a mates car who's lights had recently been leveled by a garage and leveled mine to a similar point.

I recently got mine done at a MOT station for a few beers however when I was driving on a dark road my passenger side was a good foot lower and shined directly in front of the bumper. My drivers side seemed fine.
Also where the two beams met there was a dark spot around a foot square in front of the car. I ended up adjusting my passenger side up myself so the beam is straight across and actually lowered my drivers side slightly.

I don't know what im going to do come MOT time if the alignment was right. I can't see how it was tho. Every other beam pattern i've seen aligned is straight across right to left without massive gaps and a drop on the left.
My passneger side now just catches the bottom edge of road signs where the lens flicks up
