#1: gti's 0-60 not too good. Author: scottsgti, Location: ramsgatePosted: Thu Mar 10, 2011 2:32 pm ---- hi guys. i bought a 206 gti not so long ago and the other night i timed it's 0 - 60 time. i've heard its 8secs normally but mine done it in a rather slow 9.39 secs. do u think there is something wrong with my car, or anything i could do to make it be as quick as it says in the book.
cheers :)

#4: Re: gti's 0-60 not too good. Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Thu Mar 10, 2011 2:37 pm ---- So much of the 0-60 time depends on the start...which is down to traction and how good/bad the driver is.
#5: Re: gti's 0-60 not too good. Author: scottsgti, Location: ramsgatePosted: Thu Mar 10, 2011 2:40 pm ---- hi mate. yeah i was thinking of giving it a service.
its got 77k on the clock. but im pretty disappointed in its performance. it needs a new manifold apparently, because its got a weird rattle coming from it. thought it was the cat at 1st, but replaced that and noise is still there. so next week thats getting sorted. maybe its something to do with that? so fingers crossed.
#6: Re: gti's 0-60 not too good. Author: scottsgti, Location: ramsgatePosted: Thu Mar 10, 2011 2:43 pm ---- possibly could be me, but i really dont think it is..
it seemed fine pulling off, there wasnt a ridiculous amount of wheel spin, just the norm really.i tried a few times and basically got the same time on each attempt.

That was me in my old 206 Gti
Not sure if the link is working as I'm in my phone. Search 206 Gti standard no mods 0-60 on youtube.

It doesnt need a new manifold, it needs you to use the SEARCH button
Its a common problem on the GTI & very easy to fix.
#12: Re: gti's 0-60 not too good. Author: scottsgti, Location: ramsgatePosted: Thu Mar 10, 2011 3:18 pm ---- care to explain? because i've tried searching common faults and all i seem to find is an idling problem lol.
but it does need a new manifold as this one has got odd noises coming from it. and its getting done for free from the garage anyways so i got no complaints lol.
and i do enjoy the car rich lol, would jus like it to meet the standards it says in the book :L
#13: Re: gti's 0-60 not too good. Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Thu Mar 10, 2011 3:22 pm ---- The 4 tubes inside the manifold need welding together & to the outer pipe to stop them rattling, that was the offical Peugeot warranty fix.
#14: Re: gti's 0-60 not too good. Author: scottsgti, Location: ramsgatePosted: Thu Mar 10, 2011 3:27 pm ---- no doubt thats the problem mine has then...
hopefully all goes well and the garage will sort it with out further complications
#15: Re: gti's 0-60 not too good. Author: Seabook, Posted: Thu Mar 10, 2011 3:38 pm ---- and even so the rattle is just annoying only, it do no harm to the performance
#16: Re: gti's 0-60 not too good. Author: scottsgti, Location: ramsgatePosted: Thu Mar 10, 2011 3:43 pm ---- yeah it is annoying, very annoying in-fact lol.
would like to know if there was something that was causing the car to have a fairly poor performance though =(
#17: Re: gti's 0-60 not too good. Author: Seabook, Posted: Thu Mar 10, 2011 3:46 pm ---- are you sure you got a Gti? not just a 1.1 with a gti badge?
#18: Re: gti's 0-60 not too good. Author: scottsgti, Location: ramsgatePosted: Thu Mar 10, 2011 3:52 pm ---- is that meant to be funny? lol..
i might not be the smartest person in the world, but i'm not that much of an idiot.
#19: Re: gti's 0-60 not too good. Author: Davels, Location: NorfolkPosted: Thu Mar 10, 2011 4:31 pm ---- CD your start sounded good, A little bit of chirp should be just right. Although you seemed to change up into third at you hit 60. Might have been even quicker if you pushed it nearer the limiter.
As for the OP's time. What were the conditions? Dry gripy road, dead flat, coldish? Also how did you measure the time? on a proper recorder fitted to the car or by eye and a stopwatch? Very difficult to get an accurate time even with a video.
#20: Re: gti's 0-60 not too good. Author: M60SHW, Location: CarlislePosted: Thu Mar 10, 2011 4:34 pm ---- there's so many things to take into consideration, its french, you dont know how well looked after its been, how hot/ cold te day was, is your allinement correct, tyre pressures, tyre tread, driver ability, fuel in the tank, end of the day that figure is probebly correct for YOUR car and YOUR abillity if you wonna make it abit faster take some weight out of it.
#21: Re: gti's 0-60 not too good. Author: scottsgti, Location: ramsgatePosted: Thu Mar 10, 2011 4:56 pm ---- yeah was on a dead flat road, at about 10 - 11 at night, so it was pretty cold. tires are basically new tbh. recorded with a stop watch. so may be abit out.. jus doesnt feel quick, used to have a vw polo 6n, 1.6 8v and that didnt seem any slower in all honesly and they only have about 70 - 75bhp :S
#22: Re: gti's 0-60 not too good. Author: Seabook, Posted: Thu Mar 10, 2011 5:13 pm ---- it is hard to figure out why it is slow.
a good service is always a good start.
hook it up to a computer to check if there is any fault code.
check all the exhaust joint, clean the throttle body, check compression, rail pressure.
there is so many things would affect power, without further detail we are just talk s*** really
