Thats the funny thing! The cars due an oil change so the oil is on its way to black but the residue on the cap is cream coloured! And nothing on oil filler cap. Would having TOO MUCH coolant in there have an effect like this? Ill get it to a garage to get it flushed out and replaced and ill put some k-seal in the oil when i get it changed as ive got a slow oil leak. Temporary fix but will hopefully keep any catastrophies at bay for a while...:-)

may be head gasket,
change coolant and oil and keep checking it to see if same thing happens soon after.

Can you describe the smell of this substance? Is there any oil smell like?
Also you can try to take some oil from the engine and poor some on a cup of coolant and see if you can duplicate the color and smell

I thought k-seal is for cooling systems only? Not for oil leaks?

www.k-seal.co.uk/k-seal.html - worked in a garage for 7 years and never heard of it being used in the oil?

Yeah my bad Smile i mean if it's looking like the head gasket i'll put some k-seal in coolant after ive had it flushed and refilled and hopefully that should keep it alive for a while!! Joni
