Just wondered if this was normal or not, 1999 1.4 petrol. Joni

Possible head gasket failure.
#3: Re: Is this normal? Author: Addaz, Location: SuffolkPosted: Fri Mar 11, 2011 10:28 am ---- Mayo = Sign of headgasket failing
But some cars just get it from condensation, so it here nor there
Is there any inside the engine?
EDIT: Thought it was the oil filler cap

#12: Re: Is this normal? Author: Timon2210, Location: PalestinePosted: Fri Mar 11, 2011 1:13 pm ---- that mean you have oil mixed in your coolant,I think that your headgasket is gone bye bye :(,does the car overheat quickly??
#13: Re: Is this normal? Author: jonny_fulton03, Location: LeedsPosted: Fri Mar 11, 2011 1:16 pm ---- The car doesnt overheat at all, always runs at good temps. Is oil not heavier in a particle sort of way? meaning it would sink to bottom of coolant tank as oppose to floating at the top causing this stuff? Not loosing water either, the levels fine. There IS a slight oil leak somewhere leaving the odd drips on the pavement overnight though!
#14: Re: Is this normal? Author: Jay794, Location: Sheffield/Chesterfield/DronfieldPosted: Fri Mar 11, 2011 1:25 pm ---- Oil floats on water

:whathesaid:,Oil always floats on the surface of water, but since your car does not overheat, check the car oil,is't the same color as the build up you got on your coolant cap or not??
