Question is can the Engine ECU still operate without the BSI?

But you can unlock the ECU, start the engine, whilst its running unplug the ECU [this will unlock it], then cut wires to pins 22 and 48 as these go to the immobilser.
Quick look at the wiring diagram only shows the wires for the immobliser going to the BSI
#3: Re: Engine ECU Author: Marky234, Location: ShrewsburyPosted: Mon Mar 14, 2011 6:29 am ---- The reason behind wanting to remove the BSI is i know they can be a weak link in the electrical system. when i was a pug tech i replaced loads due to electrical shorts and stuff and with it being a competition car i cant afford to have retirements due to faults like that. and as it stands at the mo i cant afford a stand alone system.
i know about the ecu unlocking because im going to be running push button ignition and getting rid of the key and immobilisher.
Im also simplifiying the wiring hence another reason to chuck the BSI and its in the way for the cage lol

Pins 4, 21, 22 on the BSI go to Pins 22 and 48 on the ECU, which are the immobliser.
Never normally get that many problems with the non-plexed BSI

I assume all the dash instruments take the info from the Engine ECU.
where are you getting the diagrams from because i miss not having access to PPS
