#1: Various Knocking Issues Author: marone, Location: Leeds, UKPosted: Tue Mar 15, 2011 11:39 am ---- Hi all, need a little bit of advice.
The 180 has been making a bit of a knocking noise when going over uneven ground, it's also more evident whilst on uneven ground AND turning a corner. Its also clunking when setting off in gear.
I've changed the drop links on Saturday but it didn’t fix the uneven ground knocking. I've since had it all looked at by a local mechanic who believes it to be a couple of issues;
1. C.V. Joints. Both joints are making clunking noises. This wouldn’t surprise me as the outer boot was replaced recently due to being split.
2. Strut Bearing. There seems to be a knocking noise coming from this area too, they believe the bearings would be the likely cause.
3. Gear Box/Engine Mounts. Probable cause of the 'gear' clunk.
All in all, I’ve been quoted around £400 to fix the lot. Does this sound fair?
I was also wondering how easy these parts are to replace myself, would I need particular tools (spring compressor) and such?
Cheers
