#1: Twed's 207 GT HDi - fly eye's 19/11/10 Author: twed207, Location: borders, near carlisle.Posted: Sun Feb 28, 2010 4:15 pm ---- ok, this thread's for my 207... not much of a build thread at the mo as not much has been done but as time goes on i'll add the pics (as you do in a WIP thread.. )
right toe... it's a 2008/58 207 GT with the gay DV6TED4 1.6HDi 110 FAP lump. it was £12,995 with 7,500miles. got it RR'd at eccosse and has 109.5hp and 193ft/lb. has half leather interior, panoramic roof, 17" alloys, folding mirrors, dual zone climate control, ESP, TC, ABS, electronic steering, tyre pressure monitors and a few more... lots of toys!
my plans are lowering (maybe harder shocks too), refurb and spray the alloys white, CC the rear bumper insert and the bit that runs accross the middle of front in it's 'mouth' lol. pug sport lion in white accross the sides and tint the windies.
ok, when i bought it at the dealers...
then when i picked it up...
got the SP grille.
and GTi spoiler and exhaust bumper trim.
and got mud flaps last week.
some more piccies.
picked up these from a lad on 207oc.com. Eibach pro-kit lowering springs. should drom it 35mm ish. all for the pricey sum of... £80. should have them on in a week or 2 .
this is what i hope to make it look like... ish.
thanks for looking!

that's the GTi, brushed aluminium btw.

went alright considering i had crappy tyre's. the ESP light was going nuts! lol

was £65.
a forge one would be nice but i cant justify wpending £560 on a FMIC... lol
#25: Re: Twed's 207 GT HDi - update - FMIC bought - 2/7/10 Author: Dillon, Location: KentPosted: Fri Jul 02, 2010 4:30 am ---- £65 is not bad at all, the forge kit is a bit expensive for what it is imo I am looking out for a double pass to make it easier on the fitting side but what i save in fitting will be spent on the cooler,
Sounds like a bargain

I plumped for the Forge one, was meant to be £680 + Delivery, but managed to get a deal done with them for £540 or so I'll fit it myself and has all the clips, hoses, joiners, pipework and FMIC calc'd for the car

erm, yesss.... lol.
all i can say is, the standard one is totty (smaller than a bit of A4 paper i think lol) and sits beside the radiator so this one will be in direct airflow in it's huge mouth so theoretically (sp), it should be better. was only £65 so meh, live and learn lol

i'll be doing some before and after data logging to see what the differences are.

RE turbo lag though... hopefully removing the DPF will counteract the bigger IC.

also got some black sheet vinyl to do a wee styling mod. which went retardedly wrong!
was gonna put it on the roof and spoiler to give it the black roof look to go along with the glass... but i ended up with only a black spoiler... lol
before..
after
looks good although it's far from straight so i'm gonna try again and if i make a a**e of it i'll get it done professionally when i get the lions put on the side.

Excuse the iPhone quality picture lol.
One thing I didn't realise with this is physics! You've got to have the nozzles at the same height or higher than the bottle so it doesn't leak out! Gonna have to put some thought into this one and maybe fabricate something... Lol

it started off like so...
Max and Hurley wanted to watch... lol
got the bumper off after faffing on for about an hour and a half...
baby intercooler...
what a mess...
testing 1 pipe...
then after that, i got miffed! lol. put the IC into place and tried some pipes and put the bumper on and it didnt fit... all the pipes were in the way, so moved it down a bit under the slam bar and then the pipes wouldnt reach! so turned it upside down and tried it, one pipe reached but the other didn't!! double lol. so tried mounting it but not plumbing it in and f****d a drill bit trying to drill through the slam bar!!!
10:30 came and was pitch black so decided to put it all back together again and get some more parts tomorrow! lol

Yeh, got it all back together, had to force the bumper on because it was a squeeze and a half. Too it out for a test run and was ok, gave it some more boost and there was a loud WWWEEEEEEEE. boost leakage so it's got to come off again and check all the fittings and use more tape... Lol.
Pics later.
Oh yeah... It took me 12 b@####d hours to do it! Most of which was trying to get the intercooler back enough and cutting the bumper and undertray that the bumper screws onto!
Grrrrr lol

had the bumper off in minutes because i didn't put it back on properly... lol
start pulling the stock IC out.
IC out. (again...)
then a grey cloud came along and started spitting abit so quick as a flash, i put the zeebo up.
i know it looks shoddy, i put the cover on updide down.
FMIC mounted.
and it all went pear shaped for here on in.
offered the bumper up and it didn't line up.
started cutting the bumper up with my sonic-crafter (kind of like a grinder)
then started putting the pipework together. i used a big pair of grips to put a flare on the ends of the pipes.
then wrapped them in PTFE/white tape.
then put them together.
and fitted them.
after that. is when i started losing hours of the day (and years off my life... lol). the bumper refused to go on so i cut more off the bumper, more off the brackets, adding and removing washers onto the bolt that holds the IC onto the bracket.
lots of plastic cuttings from the bumper and under tray (thats not even half of it!)
and cutting me lol. lucky i wasnt using a grinder!
got p**sed off and me and my dad forced the bumper on and put it all back together. the IC and pipes are pushing the grill out abit and it looks w**k. lol
and that's that! there's a bit of a hissing squeal when on full boost but holding constant boost and giving it some good spikes, it didn't pop off, and it still goes well so no performance lost (TBH, i think it's quicker. but that might just be me... lol).
if i've got time next weekend, i'll take it to bits again and try turning it upside down and if it means cutting a chunk out of the slam bar, then so be it! lol
xx

Just give yourself time, and take some accurate measurements. You need to centre the intercooler anyway, so you might as well get that fitter properly first.

#81: Re: Twed's 207 GT HDi - FMIC install attempt 2 - 8/8/10 Author: Steve206, Location: UKPosted: Sun Aug 08, 2010 3:33 pm ---- How about mounting the intercooler directly below the slam panel, and the return pipe undernteath that. That would pull everything back and inline.

it was all going so well... got it all put to gether, plumbed in the spray kit but nor wired it in, bumper on, arch liners and wheels back on. went for a drive and took it easy, car felt really good so started giving it some stick, was going ok and no boost leak. turned round and on the final straight entering the vilage...
BOOOFF!!!
pipe jumped off. have to take it all to bits again...
i think i'll get away with just taking the wheel and arch liner out so hopefully it's not that bad. it was the pipe that was leaking before.
DUCT TAPE!!! knowing you, you'll get it sorted in no time.

the pipe that popped off was the one that was leaking before and it was the tape that slipped off the pipe. took it off and butchered it a bit so that the ends of it are more flared... also tightened all the clamps some more and bust one , got some big hose clamps from B&Q and put them on as well as re-inforcement. lol
took it out for a drive and all seemed well, for now! . holds boost fine with no leaks and gave it some welly and a few spikes and all good...
pictures from saturdays capers...
found my trolley jack... lol
hawk wanted to watch this time.
the leaky pipe.
wrapped the steel pipe (was getting rusty) and covered it in tech wax (not the ends though ) to help keep it clean.
now for the fun. bought some bathroom sealing rubbery strip stuff from B&Q to put round the outside of the silicone pipes to hopefully help give the clamps some more bite.
all back together.
and now for the ghetto-fab shizzle!
mounted the sprayer bottle with abit of pole i found in the garden and bolted it to the horn mounts. lol
and to help fill it up, a bit of hose going up to the top of the bay to pour the ware down... =D> lol
sprayers.
while the wheels were off, i cleaned them on the inside - before. mingin!!
after.
should of clayed them to get all the crap out.
that's it for now until another hose pops off! lol

performance wise, i think it's made it a little quicker... it certainly feels it, but it might just be me! lol
