got the car booked in the garage, turns out i need new pads springs basically a full mechanism on the drums, quoted 300 and alternator for 150, does anyone know were to get one reconditioned, as it is a very minor fault with it,

Local motor factors may do reconditioned alternators failing that an auto electrical specialist. Ask the motor factors about the rear brake shoe fitting kits too, they shouldn't cost much more than £10. You should ask the garage for a detailed list of what needs doing ie levers, brake cylinder, chances are you can do it a lot cheaper yourself.

I cant remember what the guy said, but he is trusted, we put about 8 cars through him a year for mot and general work lol (big family) he said something fell off, brake pads are shot and things hit things causing lots of damage in the drum,
