How much do you want to spend bud..? It's endless as anything can be done to it with a budget. If you want true inspiration and non of the rubbish you see on here jump on 106owners or SSC and see some of the JP engine that have been modified correctly.

Stainless Exhaust Sytem - (cat back) done 200 cell Sports Cat/4-1 Stainless Manifold - possibly looking at that Enclosed Induction Kit - K&N panel fitted Cams (as prev suggested above) - not considered the 106 gti cams yet! Decat - considering, however using stock manifold at present
Forged Internals - out of budget Supercharging - out of budget Turbocharging - out of budget Throttle Bodies - out of budget
Still need the car to be useable as a normal (if not better performing) family car, not a tarmac terrorist. having said that, my daughter is not a baby anymore, almost a 10! Last edited by Golfguy206 on Tue Mar 22, 2011 7:22 am; edited 1 time in total

A 106 Rallye is 8v so how the hell are you meant to use a single cam or a dohc engine..?
You can't use J4 cams, retainers, valve springs in a JP4 as you'll f*** the engine as a JP4 bottom end is like butter.
People fit a JP4 head on a J4 bottom end because the J4 bottom is alot stronger and then fit all the J4 internals.

strangly i have only just realised you are quite correct, unless you get 2 sets - but I doubt that would work either.

Going to get uprated linkage's and a quickshift this weekend and see if that improve's it.
#23: Re: 1.6l 16v - Anyone got one?? Author: Addaz, Location: SuffolkPosted: Tue Mar 22, 2011 11:35 am ---- Xsi cylinder head
106 Gti bottom end
C2 Vts inlet manifold
Ported TB
4-1
= WIN

What linkages are you getting? Make sure they are for the MA gearbox, as the majority that are sold are for the BE

To be honest mate I don't know the differance between the gearbox's, I have been recommended these
But if you know any better please share , I'm hoping by installing these and the quickshift i will at least make the gear change's a bit more pleasant.

This is the set up im going for when I finally build the turbo engine, with forged pistons. However you are forgetting you may need a 106 gearbox which is cable not hydraulic.
But if you know any better please share , I'm hoping by installing these and the quickshift i will at least make the gear change's a bit more pleasant.
I had those and a griffiths quikshift, ended up chewing the diff in the gearbox....on an xsi
#32: Re: 1.6l 16v - Anyone got one?? Author: -Dave-, Location: North ManchesterPosted: Tue Mar 22, 2011 2:32 pm ---- It was you that I spoke to a while ago about it , A few people have said though that the griffiths is not that bad on my model 206, But someone did say they are not that good on the GTI or the 180, I may be mistaken but I need to do something because my gearbox is doing my nut in. Only thing about the car I can't stand.

how much you think that might come to?
106 Gti bottom end - would you need the summp and the pistons and stuff?
you wouldn't be able to just buy the bottom end of the engine.
you will have to buy the whole engine and then remove the cylinder head. Last edited by Seabook on Tue Mar 22, 2011 5:50 pm; edited 1 time in total

The quikshift on its own made a massive difference, i then cut an inch off the gearstick and it felt really close and postive through the changes. I then added the stainless rods and within 2 weeks the diff was stuffed. They were measured exactly the same as the old rods aswell.Could of been a coincidence but who knows.

C2 VTS inlet manifold has a much better flow than any inlet manifold on the J4 or JP4 engine
