I have a MAP and ICV for sale in the FS section if you need cheapish second hand replacments. The parts have only covered 50K and were replaced when trying to find an idle problem(very different to yours) new parts made no difference.

** EDIT **

Acutally scrap that, forgot to check what car you had first. The bit's I have are for a 2.0 petrol engine, sorry

just to finish this thread, took the car to pug, they admit the faults and say they have seen them on other cars before but have no idea what causes them and I can either start randomly swapping parts or put up with it lol

That's a bit of a s**t solution... they've seen it before but doesn't know what causes it... lol great.

yup, they originally tried to charge me the diag fee and 2 and a half hours labour just to tell me that they had no idea why its happening. after hours of discussion (lol) they dropped the charges and let me leave.

Their master fitter even said to me that its pointless bringing a car in without the engine management light on because if its not flagging up a code they wont be able to diagnose it. How bad is that! not all faults show up on the EML!

EDIT: first the dealers told me that these *faults* were designed into the ECU to aid with pollution and that the *stepper motor* was designed to drop the revs in uneven bouncy steps...

(i know the stepper motor aids with pollution but im pretty sure its not designed to make the cars revs bounce all over the place lol...)

after they realised I knew how an engine worked they quickly changed that story... LOL
