RPM Sensor ( SOLVED)
-> Solved 206 Problems

#1: RPM Sensor ( SOLVED) Author: leigh_boy, Location: Eastbourne PostPosted: Sat Mar 26, 2011 3:02 am

Had my car diagnosed by 2 other people 1 of them a very reptable company all for free as i do there IT for them.

but the error that keeps popping up is

Rpm sensor

neither of the companys seem to know what it is but can only guess crank or cam sensor witch both have been replaced.

I called pug they don't know they just ask to diagnose the car them selfs witch im sure it will say the same and they still wont know.

so any 1 got a clue? could it be that the sesnors i replaced 1 of them was faulty from new?

i didnt know there was an RPM sensor?

imo its most likely to be the Throttle position sensor, idle control valve, or MAP sensor, they all help to control the RPM

not 100% sure though becuase ive never heard of that fault before lol

I think the crank sensor is called an RPM by Peugeot...try changing the crank sensor...only about £15 I think...

lol, we know the error, but what is the actual problem with the car, it might help to narrow it down

i went to pug and got another crank sensor for free Smile
didnt fix the problem tho,
basicaly as you drive and hold the throttle it hesitates and ou cant hold it at an rpm you have to go through the revs witch makes doing 30 , 40 , 50 , 60 , 70 hard to do if you want to stay at that speed.

#6: Re: RPM Sensor Author: MrrNoName, Location: UK PostPosted: Sat Mar 26, 2011 5:15 am

hmm that is odd, doubt it would be the idle control valve then, maybe the throttle position sensors giving fluctuating readings? I would have thought that would have flagged up as a TPS code and not RPM though

also is this crank sensor wiring normal?

ye, its doensnt look right the way its like heat wrapped then 2 wires

#10: Re: RPM Sensor Author: Lee, Location: England PostPosted: Sat Mar 26, 2011 5:38 am

It's CAN its fine.

I'd guess your TPS is at fault

#11: Re: RPM Sensor Author: Davels, Location: Norfolk PostPosted: Sat Mar 26, 2011 5:42 am
    ----
You want to hope it's not the TPS, the cheapest i've found for a replacement is a pug dealer at 123quid, eurocarparts don't even stock them and andrew page motor factors where asking for more than that.

#12: Re: RPM Sensor Author: MrrNoName, Location: UK PostPosted: Sat Mar 26, 2011 5:44 am

ebay?

yeh its wrapped like that to cancel out interference i think

What years the car?

Might be just the throttle thats messed up

That wiring is normal.

This is what my plug looked like...the wiring is twisted through the shielded sleeving.

It's a horrible coolant temp sensor for the Omex ECU. It sits in the hole that the bleed screw will be on yours. It's getting changed in a couple of weeks when my Samco hoses arrive (at last).

The car Wink

You have wasted enough money on this one so far throwing new parts at it in an attempt to fix it Rolling Eyes

It sounds like your just slowly rebuilding the car from new parts & crossing your fingers one of these parts is gonna fix it.

Multiplexed 206's use it.

The wires twisted like that look like typical CAN twisted pair wiring.

Take it to a garage with either Pug Planet, Multi Di@g or Bosch KTS or something similar.

Not the w**ky generic EOBD readers

they will update your ecu, thats the first thing they always do and then see if the problem goes away, you dont get proper diagostics untill the second try in my experience lol
