Interior carpet changed to black
i will let some pics do the talking
the wheels were refurbed by myself and my G/F here are some pics
it was not a cheap as i was hoping (£200) but well worth it
work i have been doing this last week or 2 is stripping out the interior
before i started
and stripped
the reason for this was to run amp and speaker wires through the car under the carpet, im planning 3 in each front door card bigger ones in the rear door cards 2x12in subs in the boot 10in in the passanger footwell hopefully, also 4 in the parcel shelf i just need to finish the fibreglassing, with having our 2nd baby on the way in the next few weeks this may not be finished for a while lol but atleast all the wiring is done
while i was on i changed the carpet from grey to black which looks 100x better
wires
i will have more pics tomorrow as i will be finishing off the boot, i have put an mdf floor down with carpet underlay and carpet (black) ontop as the origional carpets were looking tatty, as a nice side effect it reduced the noise from the exhaust alot.
update
finished off neatening the wires got them set up for one amp as not got the speaker holes for the other amps yet, also put the black facia round the hu

#2: Re: ushers project (WIP) Author: Addaz, Location: SuffolkPosted: Sat Mar 26, 2011 3:24 pm ---- Looks nice mate
Just got one question about the audio
Please do not tell me that live wire is your main wire to all 4 amplifiers at a guess
#3: Re: ushers project (WIP) Author: robdob, Location: oxfordPosted: Sat Mar 26, 2011 3:52 pm ---- Lush alloys, how long did they take? Icing on the exterior imo
#4: Re: ushers project (WIP) Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Sat Mar 26, 2011 4:10 pm ---- they took a month but that was with working could have done them in 2 weeks with all day on them,
would that be a problem having 4 amps 75rms per chanel on one 4gauge wire with a splitter using 8 gauge
#5: Re: ushers project (WIP) Author: Addaz, Location: SuffolkPosted: Sat Mar 26, 2011 5:56 pm ----

Please get 0 gauge instead, 4 gauge off 4 amps is a fire hazard IMO
Plus you dont need 6 door speakers, it will completely over the power the rear
#6: Re: ushers project (WIP) Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Sat Mar 26, 2011 6:30 pm ---- im not sat in the rear lol

#10: Re: ushers project (WIP) Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Sat Mar 26, 2011 6:36 pm ---- one of the speakers wont be doing much in the door card anyway as it will be between the origional speaker and the pocket at the back of the door card more for looks
#11: Re: ushers project (WIP) Author: Addaz, Location: SuffolkPosted: Sat Mar 26, 2011 6:37 pm ---- Fair enough mate
Good luck anyways

#15: Re: ushers project (WIP) Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Thu Apr 07, 2011 2:43 pm ---- well it would have gone to plan if my cam followers wernt nackered so i am currently waiting for some new ones from piper to arrive then i can get the car back togeher, also on removing the cam belt i was told there was a amall nut which had been rubbing on the belt trapped under the cover so its a good job i was getting it done
they also noticed the aux bel tensioner is warn but should be ok for a while
hopefully i will have the car back sometime next week
on a plus side me and my gf have had a baby boy on tues both doing well, baby no2 and last lol
#16: Re: ushers project (WIP) Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Mon Apr 11, 2011 4:12 am ---- yet more bad news lol the cam followers came but for a vw so waiting for the right ones to come
bit of a newsense as i paid for next day delivery

however, in the interest of safety as said use 0 guage and then a fused distribution block into 4 x 4guage and i would also use an unfused distribution block in the same way for the ground wires
#21: Re: ushers project (WIP) Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Sun Apr 17, 2011 1:08 pm ---- didnt ask for money back as they sent the new ones 24h, should be done tomorrow hopefully problem is now there fitting it inbetween other car book ins
as for the power wire i will be ready for the i told you so moment if anything does happen for this year all i will have in is one amp and the 2 12s as i have not finished the door cards parcel shelf etc
#22: Re: ushers project (WIP) Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Wed Apr 20, 2011 1:25 pm ---- got the car back yesterday finally after a month of problems
gotta be gentle for a few hundred miles as yet so cant comment on the performance but the car is running sweet now only problem is there is some knocking as though something is loose / tapping when trying to start the car but not when running so will take it back to see what they think it could be but £160 for timing belt, water pump, cams, followers, aux belt and handbrake cables you cant go wrong also they had the car for 2weeks while waiting for parts etc
#23: Re: ushers project (WIP) Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Fri Apr 22, 2011 6:50 am ---- managed to do 200 miles since tues lol, had a blast today and noticed a slight increase in power in the region 3-5k sure they will work better with a re-map
#24: Re: ushers project (WIP) Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Mon Apr 25, 2011 3:20 pm ---- gave the car its 1st clean of the year (hangs head in shame) so thought i would try using my new machine polisher
how bad it was
i jet washed then hand washed to make sure i hade a good clean base
then went on to clean off all the tar that had built up
after this i set out claying the car ready for polishing
this is the result
i used auto glym SRP with the polisher and intensive tar remover and maguires clay
#25: Re: ushers project (WIP) cleaned update pg2 Author: Ali_H, Location: Chichester, SussexPosted: Mon Apr 25, 2011 3:28 pm ---- Thought your tyre was flat in the last one lol. And some of your photos are upside down
#26: Re: ushers project (WIP) cleaned update pg2 Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Tue Apr 26, 2011 11:45 am ---- lol i tried to get them the right way round but wouldnt do it
does look flat
next plan is to wax it and detail more ie door hinges and start on the engine bay
#27: Re: ushers project (WIP) REMAPPED Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Mon May 23, 2011 8:30 am ---- just got back from rs tuning where i had the car remapped and what a difference i now have a smooth power curve with correct fuel to air ration and gained 10bhp
overall im running near as damit 150bhp and the flywheel he tried to get it up to 150 but it wouldnt do it
graphs:-
before and after tacho was out though
before and after with fuel ratio again tacho is out my fueling was way out
after torque and hp one of the last runs did get 149.7 i think
after wheel power and fuel ratio
#28: Re: ushers project (WIP) REMAPPED Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Fri Aug 26, 2011 2:26 pm ---- bit late but this is what i got done before the french car show
morretts fitted after owning them for over a year lol
engine bay cleaned
before
after
then after these pics i decided to re paint the covers black as they were looking a bit rough
while at FCS i went on the track and cooked my brakes the discs were purple for months, stopped the anoying squeel you get from brombos though
so next on the list is the 406 master cylinder and braided hoses followed by some bigger discs probably have to be custom made not sure yet, after that next year im not going to FCS but the year after i am with hopefully way better suspension set up thicker rear ARB torsion bars and adjustable dampers Last edited by usher on Fri Mar 09, 2012 6:55 am; edited 3 times in total

#30: Re: ushers project cleaned bay and moretts fitted Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Sun Aug 28, 2011 1:34 pm ---- thanks i cant get enough of the colour
forgot to mention i have added 2 12"subs with 2 amps built in temp for now
also got my parcel shelf painted even though it needs more filling
#31: Re: ushers project cleaned bay and moretts fitted Author: LeeMaddern, Location: ScunthorpePosted: Mon Sep 05, 2011 12:35 pm ---- that was a good read dont want to sound like a p***k, but.... wont all that audio equipment be a little heavy, making all the money on new cams pointless.
#32: Re: ushers project cleaned bay and moretts fitted Author: 00budham00, Location: IpsPosted: Mon Sep 05, 2011 2:39 pm ---- You felting that parcel shelf?
#33: Re: ushers project cleaned bay and moretts fitted Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Tue Sep 06, 2011 7:38 am ---- planning on filling it all smooth and then spray it the same as it is now
i had the car stripped the other month when putting in the wires took it for a spin and it made no difference 0-100 so decided to have my audio i have always wanted, i might change my mind down the road but i need it a usable daily with the kids etc
if i was to just have a hu i would strip and cage it so this is the most practical option for now and what i want
#34: Re: ushers project cleaned bay and moretts fitted Author: macj, Location: EssexPosted: Tue Sep 06, 2011 10:51 am ---- you only stripped it to try and keep me behind you.......
#35: Re: ushers project cleaned bay and moretts fitted Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Tue Sep 06, 2011 12:03 pm ---- still did a good job as i had the subs in then
forgot to take the handbrake off when you was behind me
#36: Re: ushers project cleaned bay and moretts fitted Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Wed Feb 01, 2012 2:30 pm ---- little update got a new head unit which is capable of powering my system i have been running the old kenwood for 4 years
i went for the pioneer 9300sd
i got it mainly for the 3 hi volt pre outs but the sd and usb compatability was the decider no more changing CDs
also got some new plain number plates and some black surrounds/holders
next on the list was going to be coilovers and uprated torsion and ARB but had to get rid of the 406 estate so the 206 is now the family car lol
so this year brakes upgraded with drilled and groved discs and performance pads and braided hoses fitted
hopefully ill get the rest of the audio install finished this year just time being the issue
next year im hoping TB's Last edited by usher on Wed Apr 18, 2012 2:58 pm; edited 1 time in total
#37: Re: ushers project new hu Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Fri Mar 09, 2012 6:54 am ---- the exhaust was starting to anoy my g/f so i decided to get a decibel reducer for the centre pipe
took half hr to fit and made an instant difference to the drone that my exhaust makes
so now i have 3 decibel reducers in total 1 2.5in in the centre and one 2in in each tailpipe, the ones in the tail pipe dont do much as there not in enough to work properly but i will be changing the tail pipes soon as there starting to look tatty
i will have 2 sets as there just univeral tips that bolt on so will have one with the decibel reducers and one without keeping the centre one in as its far to loud with out any, people who went to fcs last year might have herd
next few weeks im hoping to finally get braided hoses on and tracking as ive run down the outside edge on the front tyres

#39: Re: ushers project new hu Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Wed Mar 28, 2012 7:38 am ---- it took nearly a week to strip 2 wheels as they were stubborn lol
shame i had to strip the centres tho they ended up the same colour
#40: Re: ushers project few new bits Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Wed Apr 18, 2012 3:05 pm ---- little update
got some goodies through the post
the flexi pipe was reluctantly bought as the manifold has cracked due to the stress from only having one 2bolt flange to take all the movement,
luckily its on the inside where the gasket goes so i just stuck some putty in there to help keep it in place for now
i will take more pics when i come to install the flexi pipe which i will be welding in myself (first time using a welder) could go wrong as yet but if it does im sure exhaust clamps will suffice
the hoses were stainless steel without any covering on them so i got some silicone based tape to wrap them in to stop rust etc added precaution
will give these a go myself as i know the fronts will be easy, the rears on the other hand im dreading Last edited by usher on Tue May 01, 2012 12:15 pm; edited 1 time in total
#41: Re: ushers project few new bits Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Mon Apr 30, 2012 1:28 pm ---- had a busy sunday last week got my wing back so i fitted that with some flieye tint for the morrets and fog
before
after
it has been 3 years since the wing was damaged so its nice to see a whole car
i think the morrets look lots better as my car doesnt suit much chrome
also got on with fixing the exhaust up, my friend with the welder was out so i had to bodge it for the time being with some paste which has not blown yet fingers crossed
with adding the flexi pipe i ended up with the exhaust 4inch longer so the middle rubber didnt line up right so i cut some out and sleved it, while i was on i did the same near the backbox as it seamed to need twisting so this gave me more to play with
its a bit messy at the mo but in the end i have an exhaust which sits stright for once(pics once its clean)
this week i have bought some eibach springs and weitec dampers with new drop links and wishbones
when i do this im hoping to remove the manifold to weld up the part that cracked off inside the flange which i have a new gaskett on the way Last edited by usher on Tue May 01, 2012 12:14 pm; edited 1 time in total
#42: Re: ushers project few new bits Author: donkeyding, Location: manchesterPosted: Mon Apr 30, 2012 2:14 pm ---- Just read this thread from beginning and i have to say the colour is epic!!! By far the best colour
I have one question tho as i was a little baffled.......
U have recently had it mapped with cams, raceland mani, exhaust and filter.
It only made just under 150bhp?? I don't know if i have been a little nieve but i would have thought that it would have produced more with those mods. Only asking as there similar mods to
Mine and future plans.
Cheers

#44: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG3 Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Tue May 01, 2012 5:15 am ---- DONKEYDING
yeah i was a little dissapointed with the gains but i think thays because companies over estimate gains ie viper induction syas 10bhp and exhaust said 10% thats nearly 25 imaginary bhp already
i guess from air filter pnp tb exhaust i would have gained about 3-5bhp then the cams and re-map did the 8-10 bhp
you got to remember the cams are only a re-profile without needing vernier pullys on standard timing so there not massively different from standard but enough for the time being
it is still fun to drive in all gears so i wouldnt say money wasted but if you want the power get throttle bodies as that will give you 180 atleast but at a cost of 2k ish for the kit
i spent 700 on cams followers timing belt water pump and fitting so they were the cheaper option to nearly 2k for bigger cams needing a stand alone ecu
#45: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG3 Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Tue May 01, 2012 12:11 pm ---- my new front end suspension that should be on this weekend to finally end the banging and knocking

#47: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG3 Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Sun May 06, 2012 2:13 am ---- had a hr or so on the car last night ghot calipers discs wheels and started on one ball joint which is proving difficult but left it on wd40 over night so should be all done tonight
#48: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG3 Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Sun May 06, 2012 7:35 am ---- cracked on today got all parts off to be changed
wishbones on hubs wire brushed and painted with track rod, also rust treated dampers and top mounts then painted black also did my spacers as they were a little rusty
should be back on the road within a few hrs just need to top up the gearbox oil as it slipped out doh
next will be some torsion bars which im hoping to remove the rear axel and change the flexi hoses while im on and underseal the boot floor and anywhere elso i can get to
also do the trailing arms etc the same as i have today
#49: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG4 nearly new susp set up Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Sun May 06, 2012 1:12 pm ---- all done had a test drive and its like new the eibach are in a different league compaired to the spax, think there a little lower but not by much, all went well in the end only trouble was ball joints and drive shaft popping out but managed fine, took most of the day but we (me n brother in law) was waiting for paint to dry at times, food to eat and tea breaks
pics when clean next is to have my exhaust welded up for the last time and new tips
got the new gaskett through for the manifold which was difficult to find
hopefully this will fit not had a test fit so just hoping, it looks about right
#50: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG4 nearly new susp set up Author: spike_202, Location: West midsPosted: Sun May 06, 2012 1:49 pm ---- Glad to hear it went well mate I've never done a wishbone always had a garage do it for me.
What torsion bars you going for next?
#51: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG4 nearly new susp set up Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Sun May 06, 2012 3:01 pm ---- getting the 22mm sport ones off len bench, when i get them ill be undersealing the whole car as its looking 12 years old lol, should be fun
#52: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG4 nearly new susp set up Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Wed May 09, 2012 12:19 pm ---- had a go at sorting the exhaust out yesterday 3hrs in total to find out its blowing more than when i started so today i went to exhaust a fix in darlington (think there a powerflow dealer aswell) they did a great job on my white 206 but that cost £500 which put me off going back to them with the gti
just thought of the costs though 2 back boxes 1 decat and 1 cat with pipework not too bad really
anyway they cut the manifold 2bolt flange off as the middle pipe for the gaskett had cracked off meaning it was blowing but because i had fitted a flexi hose (which i got welded the day before for £5) i could make it a solid joint so they did that with a flat gaskett and sorted out the sleves that had slight blows and re aligned the backbox all in £60 which i didnt think was too bad
the gasket old and new with the bit that has broken away from the manifold
manifold how it is now with a flat gaskett
asked for a rough cost to replace the lot cat back roughly £200 so when something elso goes wrong its in the bin as it wasnt made very well in the first place as i didnt have enough pipework and there is a length of 3" in there the angled pipework is not right etc it s not perfect and looks a state it cost 210 fitted
ive lernt some valuable lessons dont try to go cheap it will cost more in the long run
#53: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG4 Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Wed May 09, 2012 12:26 pm ---- also picked up some 22mm torsion bars from len beach
#54: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG4 Author: spike_202, Location: West midsPosted: Wed May 09, 2012 4:44 pm ---- Could you do me a favour mate and measure the length of the please
#55: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG4 Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Thu May 10, 2012 5:24 am ---- there 1m 37mm long
#56: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG4 Author: spike_202, Location: West midsPosted: Thu May 10, 2012 7:31 am ---- nice one bud
#57: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG4 Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Wed Jun 06, 2012 2:24 pm ---- bit of an update more maintainance
as i lost some gear box oil when doing the wishbones i thought it best to change the oil and then i know how much is in there
got new filler and drain plugs from pug and the oil for less than the oil would have been from halfrauds
how bad the oil was if you can tell
also there was 2.2 ltrs in there and i was ment to have 1.9 according to 206gti.net so good job i did it
second is the checkstrap on the drivers door, i did the passanger side 2 years ago and whish i had done both at the same time as the price has doubled, now 24 quid a side
had one nut slipping so had to take the door off and thoght i would get in there and clean it before re fitting

#59: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG4 Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Thu Jul 05, 2012 11:59 am ---- thanks, standards have slipped the last few year but getting back on top of it now starting at one end and working back, then bodywork as it really is looking tatty, next on the list is to re condition the axel and underseal
more maintainance this week, had MOT due so put it in a week early to be safe as i knew the tyres were very close etc
it failed on tyres and flexi hoses
i have some braided hoses already so changed them over which has improved the pedal feel a little, the old ones were about 2x longer so not sure if this would make a difference or wether there was a little air in the system, also got some tyres on and changed the track rod ends to make the front end completly new
we got the tracking near as dammit it drives straight but the wheel is lop sided so needs setting up properly soon
in the end it passed mot with advisory for exhaust noise and the fact they couldnt test the rear seat belts because i had the kids car seats in
some pics of the new hoses on, the drop links with silicone tape on didnt go to plan with oily hands and tools so i stripped them back to normal

#61: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG4 Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Fri Jul 06, 2012 7:10 am ---- Is that brake pipe right? Doesnt look it. That L shaped bit of copper is unsupported and will break eventually. Everytime you steer it will try to bend it and the constant flexing will end in disaster.
#62: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG4 Author: spike_202, Location: West midsPosted: Fri Jul 06, 2012 7:20 am ---- I was also thinking that paul looks v.unsafe mate, at very least it should be supported at the hub then to the flex fixing. I would of just had a custom flex made up that goes direct to it 2bh
#63: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG4 Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Fri Jul 06, 2012 12:40 pm ---- thats the way the standard hoses were there just a little shorter, must admit i dont like how flimsy brake pipes are so might make up a bracket for them as there is plenty of space between the flexi ending and copper elbow starting (thread i mean) to fit a washer style bracket
ill have the weels off again soon im sure, so will have a good look
thanks for the heads up
#64: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG4 Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Fri Jul 06, 2012 4:03 pm ---- I've seen a similar thing but they always have a supporting bracket. I'd sort that straight away.
Have a look at some pictures of Sierra Cosworth calipers. I'm sure they have a bracket.
#65: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG4 Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Sat Jul 07, 2012 11:44 am ---- will do as i said they came pretty much like that off the 406 coupe, but there again there will be more play in the rubber hoses, ill check them on full lock both wys with the wheels off tomorrow probably, im sure i could make a bracket to bolt in to the hub where the abs sensor mount is
#66: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG4 Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Sat Jul 07, 2012 12:03 pm ---- do you mean something like what these calipers have?? clicky
i might see if them hoses will be long enough without the copper pipe as they the same thread, do you know why they use the copper part any benifits?
#67: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG4 Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Sat Jul 07, 2012 1:16 pm ---- Thats the sort of thing yes. I imagine the length of copper pipe means the hose doesnt need to reach as far into a wide wheel.
#68: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG5 clean up Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Mon Jul 09, 2012 1:17 pm ---- been under the car looking at the hoses and there is no movment in the copper parts so ill leave them for now checking them every time i have the wheels off
i was planning to wash the car after this so thought i may as well clean up the arch and wheels
wheels after a good soak in AG custom wheel cleaner
arch after a scrub then spray wax i found in the shed to help the dirt come off next time
(i know i missed a bit)
and finished, i did try to cover up the stone chip on the black of the alloys with some hammerite i had left in a rattle can as its not worth re doing them properly like i did last time
i think the arches need some underseal to help keep them from rotting so thats to do when the rest of the car gets undersealed
#69: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG5 clean up Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Sat Jul 14, 2012 11:54 am ---- got the car tracked up today, it was way out but now drives like a dream few odd results from the printout but not much i can do about it
there not much camber up front lol
#70: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG5 clean up Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Tue Aug 14, 2012 12:35 pm ---- tosion bars Will be getting fitted on the 25 if they come out without issues. i have scrapped the idea of undersealing the car and fitting a 180 axle for this year anyway
i have started to soak them in wd 40 (the ones on the car lol)
#71: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG5 clean up Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Tue Aug 14, 2012 12:47 pm ---- You say there is no movement in those copper pipes, when going over bumps etc there definately will be flex. That should be your first priority to fit. Bonkers to ignore it.
#72: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG5 clean up Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Wed Aug 15, 2012 10:53 am ---- as i said there is no play in them while steering ill take another look to see if they have moved at all, they come from the factory like that with the rubber hoses
#73: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG5 clean up Author: rypod206, Location: sheffieldPosted: Wed Aug 15, 2012 12:32 pm ---- when i picked my brembos up they also had copper pipes, and also crap lol, my custom hoses were only £40 delivered, might be worth investing.
#74: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG5 engine mount Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Fri Aug 24, 2012 1:40 pm ---- had a little fun yesterday and today, decided to get a powerflex bust for the engine as it was near enough the same price as an oem one, and there not a stiff as the vibra technics so should be ok to leave the others standard,
removing the old one was easier said then done, managed to remove the rubber (with cutting myself lol) then came the fun bit of cutting/chiveling out the outer shell, in the process of this i hit the oil level probe and oil started to leak everywhere so rang pug to get a new one which was 40quid (expensive mistake) but they couldnt get it till the morning, so left the car leaking over night and lost over 2ltrs so nearly an oil change, got the new bush in within 5 mins of getting the shell out
result is i would recomend doing it but mind the oil level probe lol, engine feels alot sharper and the car feels more solid but miine was shot as the engine swayed so much that its rattled the exhaust lose a few times
tomorrow is torsion bars
#75: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG5 engine mount, torsion bars in Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Wed Aug 29, 2012 6:10 am ---- over the weekend i had a go at fitting the torsion bars ive had for a few months, they were a bit of a pain with the trailing arm coming away instead of the torsion bar, after one day i got the top bar out and the new one in, then the bottom bar took nearly 2 days to get out i had to knock it in and out for ages then it finally came out,
got it all back together and realised i had raised the back end slightly but think ill keep it for a while, might lower it a little late on but we will see
how it used to sit, with the old front sprins also
how it sits now with the new springs and torsion bars
there 22mm pug sport bars which have made the back near enough as firm as the front so happy with it, just need to fix the arb bolt that connects to the arm as this sheered off when i tried to loosen it
think ill re thread it as getting the bolt out wont be easy
next is to make a bracket up for the brake hoses
#76: Re: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG5 engine mount Author: DeadEyePaul, Location: Rugby,WarwickshirePosted: Wed Aug 29, 2012 12:03 pm ---- Pretty good matey! Keep it up love the brembo brakes very sexy

#78: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG5 engine mount.22mm torsion bars Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Thu Sep 20, 2012 1:30 pm ---- ive come to like the hight now looks more balanced, feels smoother to drive also lol, did give it a wash and polish with the intednt on putting up some pics but then it rained, sods law
think next up is to get rid of the exhaust as its really getting on my nervs like the noise but not the drone or tapping that it has from time to time, it ruins the car now imo
#79: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG5 engine mount.22mm torsion bars Author: spike_202, Location: West midsPosted: Fri Sep 21, 2012 2:05 pm ---- Good work mate
I did the same when I had the 180 bars fitted at Harrys we raised the back end and it looks more level and doesn't feel skitchy round corners any more.
#80: Re: ushers project UPDATE PG5 engine mount.22mm torsion bars Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Tue Oct 02, 2012 1:10 pm ---- did you notice any difference with the 180 tbs as mine are 22mm and not overly noticable
guy basically undertook my on a single lane t junction and didnt see i was indicating left and turning left, i mean i was infront of him when he hit me
insurance willing to repair, which i was surprised at, he not taking the blame as yet so my insurance will pay up but ill hold off till he accepts its his fault i mean how can you hit a car infront of you and then say its not your fault
i even said to the guy which way was i indecating and he couldnt answere

im still confused as to how he managed it
i was almost lined up on the road i had pulled out on to
#84: Re: ushers project UPDATE, f******g fuming RTA Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Wed Oct 03, 2012 3:06 pm ---- People often buy big stuff like that because they aren't confident in their own driving. It makes them feel safer where the real problem is their inability to drive correctly.

couldnt agree more hate 4x4's, now even more
i remember on top gear they lined up 15 kids behind one and they still couldnt see them in the mirrors
Always dislike SUV on public road, always think because they have small c**k so they need a big car to make themselves feel good
#87: Re: ushers project UPDATE, f******g fuming RTA Author: Seabook, Posted: Wed Oct 03, 2012 7:25 pm ---- And i think in this case there is no way your insurance will lose in the fight.
In a single lane road it is almost 100% certain is the rear car fault..
#88: Re: ushers project UPDATE, f******g fuming RTA Author: craigdmjv, Location: WiltshirePosted: Thu Oct 04, 2012 12:36 am ---- give it good clean before it goes into the bodyshop as theyll calculate the costs there to see if its 'financially' repairable
#89: Re: ushers project Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Sun Dec 16, 2012 2:30 am ---- after the last feew months nothing has been resolved my insurance thought i was at a round about after all the images and 3 statements so they told me they had settled 50 50 so the case has been put straight with a written statement and more drawings of the incident
the third party is saying i overtook him and turned on to himwhich is bonkers considdering i had my 2 kids in the car and it was at a givway onto a main road
once its sorted hopefully ill be buying the car back as it will be written off, then splitting i think as it needs too many thing to make it a nice car again starting with a full re spray then hub bearings sound on their way out with new discs and pads needed all round so may as wel get a bigger car for the money needed to fix it up
#90: Re: ushers project Author: spike_202, Location: West midsPosted: Mon Dec 17, 2012 3:08 am ---- Correct me if I'm wrong mate but if it's 'wrote off' don't it have to be crushed? As no parts are safe for resale?
#91: Re: ushers project Author: Edward, Location: In the garagePosted: Mon Dec 17, 2012 8:11 am ---- Writing off a car is often down to financial reasons rather than the condition of the parts on the car.
#92: Re: ushers project Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Mon Dec 17, 2012 10:16 am ---- the condition of parts was my reason to split as it Will cost as much as a new 2nd hand car would
#93: Re: ushers project Author: spike_202, Location: West midsPosted: Mon Dec 17, 2012 12:11 pm ---- Will they let you buy it back if it's wrote off?
#94: Re: ushers project Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Mon Dec 17, 2012 1:54 pm ---- assume so its not finished with liability yet but betting it Will be
this unfortunately Will be the end of my car as the costs ain't worth it when i can get a newer bigger car massive shame as i wanted to tb it
can't afford to track it which has crossed my mind
Will have to buy it back as its my only car so it Will be around but no more money in to it moding unless i come in to some money
Correct me if I'm wrong mate but if it's 'wrote off' don't it have to be crushed? As no parts are safe for resale?
it Will be un economical repair i think

You have a few different catergories
CAT A - Crush only no parts can be salvaged (most commonly when a fatality has occurred in the car) absolutely nothing can be sold on from the car, not even a bolt
CAT B- Salvage only - The car itself can never return to the road but any salvageable parts can be sold on
CAT C - Uneconomical repair - Cant remember the exact figure think it's 50% but if the parts & labour for the repair exceed that percentage of the car's value then it is deemed uneconomical.
CAT D - similar to cat c, but more of a get out clause for the insurance company. Say now someone hits your wing, and you go through insurance to repair, they may choose to cat d write off the car as they do not want to authorize the work and then get the car into a body shop where they remove the wing and find more structural damage underneath which could push the cost into a cat c.
#97: Re: ushers project Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Tue Feb 05, 2013 3:12 pm ---- bit of an update
the insurance have said it looks like it will go in my favour and the third part has changed their story twice so should work out well
also 3 months ago i started a new job working as a courier so full time and more pay so the car will be staying and if all works out well a track car which will get used regular hopefully , i just need to work out what can tow it on a trailer as its so confusing about what you can tow etc any tips would be appreciated
think the next mod will be some new wheels as the ones i have now are past their best by a long shot and smaller wheels will work much better on the track, then maybe a new exhaust
just an idea but has anyone made their own a rolll cage??
#98: Re: ushers now track project, and new daily Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Sun Feb 24, 2013 3:26 am ---- insurance has still not come to a good end my insurance had told the third party to settle 50/50 for the 3rd time without my consent so its having to drag on more, went and got a renault megane the 1.5 dci (pic once cleaned) which will save me on 1k a year in running costs so more to spend on the 206
plans for the 206 are to wait for insurance to come through then buy it back get a new colour coded door and pop the dent out then i need wheels, discs pads, and exhaust then it will be ready for track use, also a little diet for the car so all interior will be up for grabs,
#99: Re: ushers now track project, and new daily Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Sun Mar 03, 2013 3:27 am ---- insurance threw it out so once i have finished building the new podeum for the car as i have a van to take home and cant fit it on the drive as well, interior wil start coming out and battery in the boot, and other quick and easy mods for now
#100: Re: ushers now track project Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Mon Apr 22, 2013 11:02 am ----
the new work area is not finished
view from my kitchen window (ideal for cups of coffee to be passed through :))
its not too bad for costing me the breeze blocks and slabs at the end, yes i ran out of block paving lol
things have been moving slow atm with needing to finish the kitchen decoration off and work but on the plus side ill be set 5 days a week working now with my own van from next week, i have sold a few bits from the interior and got the cable for the battery re-location with new clamps etc
im also weighing things i remove to see how much can be removed just out of curiosity, im hoping to have the interior stripped in a week or so and battery in the boot
#101: Re: ushers now track project Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Wed May 01, 2013 4:12 pm ---- bit of an update, the interior should be gone tomorow so cracked on and removed more stuff heres what it looks like at the moment still loads to do
i decided to be a little OCD and weigh what i removed and weigh what im putting back in, the interior (seats and door cards) weigh about 65kg
head unit heater fan car mats weighing 5kg
with bolts and other bits of trim still to go not to mention all the amp wires and board of mdf i put in the boot to keep the exhaust managable
dredding the sound proofing removal
#102: Re: ushers now track project Author: usher, Location: northallertonPosted: Mon May 06, 2013 4:27 pm ---- Another small update
Managed to get seat belts out fully removed boot mdf and majority of the sound proofing which came up surprisingly easy just had to pull
Total weight remove is 93kg without speaker cables yet
Bucket seats purchased harnesses to go then battery on the boot matrix out and other things then seats in
#103: Re: ushers now track project Author: jonsully, Location: irelandPosted: Tue May 07, 2013 2:43 am ---- goin well usher,if I remember correctly I think I knocked 150kgs off the weight of my car,I was the same weighed everything a nice weight reduction improvement is a fibreglass bonnet,I think mine weighed about 9kgs less than the original bonnet.aircon is also quite heavy was about 10kg in total I think.also got smaller lighter wheels (every 1kg reduction in unsprung weight is equivalant to 10kg sprung weight) which made a really nice difference.also the sound deadning the stuff is on like tar under the front seats, you need a heat gun to get it up,weighs 5-6kg
#104: Re: ushers now track project Author: Lex206, Location: HollandPosted: Tue May 07, 2013 8:02 am ---- my fiberglass bonnet weighs 2,5 kgs, original weighs like 15 kgs i reckon?
