wishbones on hubs wire brushed and painted with track rod, also rust treated dampers and top mounts then painted black also did my spacers as they were a little rusty

should be back on the road within a few hrs just need to top up the gearbox oil as it slipped out doh

next will be some torsion bars which im hoping to remove the rear axel and change the flexi hoses while im on and underseal the boot floor and anywhere elso i can get to

all done had a test drive and its like new the eibach are in a different league compaired to the spax, think there a little lower but not by much, all went well in the end only trouble was ball joints and drive shaft popping out but managed fine, took most of the day but we (me n brother in law) was waiting for paint to dry at times, food to eat and tea breaks

pics when clean next is to have my exhaust welded up for the last time and new tips

got the new gaskett through for the manifold which was difficult to find

hopefully this will fit not had a test fit so just hoping, it looks about right

had a go at sorting the exhaust out yesterday 3hrs in total to find out its blowing more than when i started so today i went to exhaust a fix in darlington (think there a powerflow dealer aswell) they did a great job on my white 206 but that cost £500 which put me off going back to them with the gti

just thought of the costs though 2 back boxes 1 decat and 1 cat with pipework not too bad really

anyway they cut the manifold 2bolt flange off as the middle pipe for the gaskett had cracked off meaning it was blowing but because i had fitted a flexi hose (which i got welded the day before for £5) i could make it a solid joint so they did that with a flat gaskett and sorted out the sleves that had slight blows and re aligned the backbox all in £60 which i didnt think was too bad

the gasket old and new with the bit that has broken away from the manifold

manifold how it is now with a flat gaskett

asked for a rough cost to replace the lot cat back roughly £200 so when something elso goes wrong its in the bin as it wasnt made very well in the first place as i didnt have enough pipework and there is a length of 3" in there the angled pipework is not right etc it s not perfect and looks a state it cost 210 fitted

ive lernt some valuable lessons dont try to go cheap it will cost more in the long run

bit of an update more maintainance

as i lost some gear box oil when doing the wishbones i thought it best to change the oil and then i know how much is in there
got new filler and drain plugs from pug and the oil for less than the oil would have been from halfrauds
how bad the oil was if you can tell

also there was 2.2 ltrs in there and i was ment to have 1.9 according to 206gti.net so good job i did it

second is the checkstrap on the drivers door, i did the passanger side 2 years ago and whish i had done both at the same time as the price has doubled, now 24 quid a side

had one nut slipping so had to take the door off and thoght i would get in there and clean it before re fitting

thanks, standards have slipped the last few year but getting back on top of it now starting at one end and working back, then bodywork as it really is looking tatty, next on the list is to re condition the axel and underseal

more maintainance this week, had MOT due so put it in a week early to be safe as i knew the tyres were very close etc
it failed on tyres and flexi hoses
i have some braided hoses already so changed them over which has improved the pedal feel a little, the old ones were about 2x longer so not sure if this would make a difference or wether there was a little air in the system, also got some tyres on and changed the track rod ends to make the front end completly new

we got the tracking near as dammit it drives straight but the wheel is lop sided so needs setting up properly soon

in the end it passed mot with advisory for exhaust noise and the fact they couldnt test the rear seat belts because i had the kids car seats in

some pics of the new hoses on, the drop links with silicone tape on didnt go to plan with oily hands and tools so i stripped them back to normal
