New wing mirror
-> 206 Problems

#1: New wing mirror Author: Davels, Location: Norfolk PostPosted: Mon Mar 28, 2011 2:35 am

I bought a second hand wing mirror with a white plug as my broken one was electric and heated. however when i came to finally fit it the mounting was compltely different and wouldn't fit at all. The colour coded cap wouldn't fit properly either.

I thought all 206 mirrors where the same apart from colour, heated or not, electric or not and electric folding or not. Although this one does look a slightly different shape.

I managed to strip both my old one down and my new one then fit the new mirror to my old mounting but it now wont fold in at all. By this i mean by hand, niether mirror has an electric folding mechanism.

My question is should it fold or is it just because it is an older mirror it doesn't?

If it was from a CC it would be OK as I thats what my car is Laughing As far as i knew there was no difference, it should still fold in tho right?

Definitely a 206 mirror, bought with confidence from a forum member, the cap fits but was very hard to get on which snapped the lugs so i now need to glue it or something. Looks the same but subtly different which sounds odd i know

Unless it's a hatch - cc thing (which dosn't make sense the doors are exactly the same) then the mounts should be exactly the same.

I wouldn't be surprised if the mirrors off the lower models didn't fold.

Ah, must be to do with the CC not having a top edge on the doors it's just glass up to the roof as it's a coupe. Ok that explains the hours of modding Laughing what about the lack of foldy foldy? as Harry said about?

the folding mechanism might be a bit seized, give it a firm shove inwards and if it's a genuine mirror, it will fold in.

LOL i have visions of me posting on here for a new mirror after some idiot (ie me) has snapped it off again Laughing i'll have a go at it when the car is back from the garage and it's been WD'd up to loosen a bit.

My passengers one never folded in because it seized up, snapped it off because i forced it

I bought a door that was listed as being from a cc and it fitted? Probably an ebay seller fail.

You would soon spot the difference if you went to fit a CC door on a hatch Wink

Would be worse trying to fit a hatch door on a CC Laughing
