#1: Whistling Noise during Audio + Another Strange Noise Author: Uz, Location: No Man's LandPosted: Thu Mar 31, 2011 2:29 am ---- For about the last two weeks I've had a really weird whistling noise that gets louder as I go up the revs.
Now this now has only started happening since I've weird my AMP for all my components, headunit and my active enclosure. The noise isn't there when the audio is turned off I can go through the gears and upto speed and I'll have no whistling noise but the minute I turn the audio on the whistling appears.
Now I've got my Power wire running up the passengers side of the car through the bulkhead. The earth wire is currently attached to the drivers side rear bench mounting point (closest to the wheel arch). Remote is running up the passengers side of the car with the positive and all my RCAs are running up the drivers side of the car.
I've spoken to Sam-C on facebook and he's advised to move the RCAs and remote wire up the centre channels of the car. He's also said to move the earthing point to the oem earthing point on the passengers side so I'm going to do that and use a earthing terminal.
But what I'm wondering is what everyone may think it could well be..?
Also my second problem is that from starting off I have a clonking noise coming from the rear passengers side. It stays there till about 30mph sometimes a bit more. It's always there no matter how smooth or roof the road is :S does anyone know what it coulld be. I've checked all the obvious i.e. bolts, hangers for the exhaust etc.
All help on both things will be appreciated.

Shocks are less then 500 miles old as they're the ones that came with FK AK coilover set but I'll get them checked out but I don't seem to have any problems with over bumps at higher speeds.

Are they shorting out anywhere? Tight areas?
Run a new cable from the headunit straight to the sub, no hiding it away but straight across the centre and see if it cures the problem
If not try the sub in a different set up, if it cures it, it is the source unit

Not that I can see bud. The wires all all using the mounting points for all the other wiring points i.e. the slots down the sills etc and there's plenty of slack on all the wiring. I'm going to give running the remote wire a go down the centre and level power down passenger and rcas down drivers and see how that goes.
I'm going to give another headunit a go and will try the sub again once it's in it's auto acoustics stealth box and back in the car.

It used to be a common fault on vehicles with older ICE. The coil in the alternator interferes with the radio wiring somehow. I'm not a techie so not sure of all the workings. They used to cost a couple of quid and stopped the noise.

Have you run your audio cables along with you power cables?
Are you power cables anywere near you audio cables in the boot? (or were ever your amp/s is/are?)
You are getting interference from the alternator - another thing you could do is Upgrade you earths and power leads under the bonnet, and upgrade the alternator.

The RCAs are all down the drivers side of the car atm. But as they get to the boot where the amp is they are all by one another.
I'm just getting a whistling noise from somewhere which is gets louder as I go up the revs. Whether thats the alternator I don't know. But I'm only running an 800 watt amp and 4 gauge wiring which is reduced down via the correct distributor blocks in 8 gauge which goes into the amp.

If this doesnt work i would recommend getting a suppressor.
