#1: Clutch after remap Author: 999pulsar, Location: LancashirePosted: Thu Mar 31, 2011 11:17 am ---- Going to get the FAP removed and get a remap. Reading over old posts there is a lot of talk about the clutch and fly wheel not lasting as long on the 1.6gti hdi after the remap.
How long is not long? Cars done 50k I only do around 5-6k a year.
Cheers Luke

#3: Re: Clutch after remap Author: Seabook, Posted: Thu Mar 31, 2011 12:14 pm ---- depends on what torque did yopu achieve
#4: Re: Clutch after remap Author: 999pulsar, Location: LancashirePosted: Thu Mar 31, 2011 11:18 pm ---- Not been done yet. Just looking for a rough estimate RS Tuning quotes 137hp 295nm after remap so on them figures average driving with occasional blasts roughly how long.
Dont want to have the remap and need a clutch in 3 months if Im going to be looking at 10-15k miles then thats 2-3 years time so not bothered about that.
#5: Re: Clutch after remap Author: Seabook, Posted: Fri Apr 01, 2011 1:47 am ---- if you are going to do the clutch make sure you get the helix sport clutch or anything with similar quality. they aren't cheap but they are good stuff. i think last time i pay 350 for the complete clutch kit (parts only)

Cheers seabrook also can you recommend a fly wheel ive read a lot of posts about changing to a single but no mention of which one is best.

All standard clutches are built with a tolerance. If your new torque figure is close to or over the maximum rated for your standard clutch with 50k on the clock it won't last long.
For example I had an Ibiza FR diesel with a standard clutch rated up to 300ft/lb of torque with the standard car only pushing out 229ft/lb. Despite my remap only taking the car up to around the 300 mark it still slipped
