No going to keep it green, another colour would be too much hassle.

Went to an upholsterer to get the new soft top repaired this morning however they wanted it off the frame (roughly a 4 hour job to replace it) but he said it had shrunk, so even if he did repair it it would come undone again. So going to have to fork out £260 for a brand new one fitted Sad

However good news on the new seats.
Had a long drive to Brighton last Saturday, seats and door cards were a bargain at £70. While I was there I asked how much for the door seal (Mazda wanted £85 for a new one!) the bloke said "If you want to remove it, have it" Very Happy
I asked if he's selling the rear calipers, he said I could take them off, so I got my tools out and removed them. Asked him how much he wanted for them (they are in VGC with loads of life left on the pads) £10 he said!!! Very Happy
So it was well worth the journey.

Sunday I removed the old soft top and seats, put the new seats in but I ran into a little problem.

No seatbelt mounting point on the new seat Rolling Eyes
So phoned up the guy I bought the seats from & he sent me the new seatbelts Smile

Made a start cleaning up the rust on the rear arches, the drivers on is worse than it looked so both sides will be cutout & replacements welded in.
Starting to get expensive Laughing

Was going to say, you could save a pretty penny if you kept it green. Not to mention if you do the prep work yourself!

Going to keep it for a year I think, and sell next summer.

MOT this week, then I'll be driving it once I have tax on the 1st May Very Happy

A few updates.

New door cards fitted along with new seatbelts and seats.

Rusty arches cleaned up and a dab of paint.

Paint colour is wrong, but it's only temporary and looks better than grey primer from a distance.

Going to get the new arches welded in next week I think.

Insurance is now sorted. Bit pricey at £800, but I can't use my 2 years NCB on a 2nd car Sad

Only just got it through the MOT as they weren't too happy about the rusty arches, however they are being welded next week.

Part exchanging the old tatty seats with someone that reupholsters them. He's fitting a new soft top for £150 Very Happy

This car is so much fun. I'd recommend you get one at some point!

Getting the rear end out (when it's safe to do so) is brilliant fun and very controllable.

It seems to be quite thirsty though but that's compared to my 60mpg diesel.

New soft top has been fitted Very Happy
Need to upload the pics from my phone.

Going to refurb the alloys at some point.
Need to decide on what colour to do them, I'm thinking silver. But gold might look nice (think Subaru alloys)
