i had car running for about 10mins and temp got up to 90, now seems bit fast to me?? rad was stone cold, so was water tank too fan was cutting in and out too.
engine has naff knocking noise from below i just thought bottom end was stuffed maybe its just naff water pump?

suposse i could take it out and test it never thought of that
one thing tho, when running even when cold does the water returning to header tank go into tank via the small top pipe i cant remember on these cars?? no water is moving at all in the header tank.

thats why ya always change pump when doing timing belt, least thats what i was told, before someone jumps up and down because i might be wrong lol

i had one go on my old car while it was spinning the blade inside the block wasnt (so garage said), thats when i 1st got it from garage so they fixed it for me.
so thats why i was wondering,

well thats what i was told when it went wrong with my old car (before i confident in messing around with this stuff) unless they were trying to fob me off lol

Author: D4NTP, Location: Not Leeds or its surrounding areas!Posted: Mon Apr 04, 2011 2:49 pm ---- Usually the water pump impellor breaks up over time due to the antifreeze and the fact they tend to be plastic. The belt still drives the pump but it can't move any coolant, that then causes bits of the impellor to get into the cylinder head. If the impellor is u/s make sure you account for all the bits before fitting the new pump as it can quite easily block the head and overheat. If the pump seizes then yes it can snap the belt, unusual though.
Good practice and common sense says change the pump when you change the belt.
