I've been trough about 5 in 2 years? They are only a few quid, but it's a annoying when you haven't long replaced them and they go again.

Either way it didn't make a lot of difference. I guess I'll try more expensive ones. Any recommendations on where to get better quality? What makes are best?

If you do touch the glass, just give it a wipe with methylated spirit.

There's no guarantee a better bulb will last though, it could be money down the drain.
