Is it normal having to replace these bulbs every few months? I've been trough about 5 in 2 years? They are only a few quid, but it's a annoying when you haven't long replaced them and they go again.

If they are poor quality, yes, they will. Though it depends how you fitted them. You do know you can't touch the glass right?

Ok, I guess Ebay ones are out of the question then? Yes I know not to touch the glass but how does that affect how long they last?

Cheers, I probably didn't touch the outside on the last ones as I was well aware of it but may have in the past. Either way it didn't make a lot of difference. I guess I'll try more expensive ones. Any recommendations on where to get better quality? What makes are best?

Always replace the bulbs in pairs as they have both been operational for the same amount of time. Phillips and Osram seem the most popular on here.
If you do touch the glass, just give it a wipe with methylated spirit.

Anything decent seems to cost £15 or more for a single bulb, I guess it is a case of weighing up whether to buy cheap and just replace every few months or fork out more to last longer. There's no guarantee a better bulb will last though, it could be money down the drain.

Better bulbs do last.

Philips and Osram spend millions in investing in technology to create the best products and won several awards. What do the cheap tack chinese s**t do?

Anyone know if bulb makers are like food companies. Make one a quality and expensive brand and another a supermarket own brand.

I had a change of heart Lee - tried to edit my post but the database went down lol

I'll look at Phillips and replace both at the same time.
