#1: ECU,BSI, and keys and barrel ring...... Need assitance :( Author: punk, Location: Brum PostPosted: Wed Apr 06, 2011 1:36 pm
    ----
Hi, I have had my car for almost 4 months now, and i have only driven it about half a mile ! I will try and give as much detail as possible.....

I have a immobilisers fault, the refuses to start more often than not. I have taken it to several mechanics, and non could fix the immobilisers.

Now, a friend of mine put me in touch with a local immobilisers repair dude, who said, he could fix the fault only for it to return as he couldn't guarantee it. He recommended the following:

He told me to go and buy a second hand ECU, BSI, And key fob ( all from the same car. ) he told me they are usually in the price range of £120-£180 ...

now i have the following questions, Can i buy a ECU BSI and FOB and barrel ring, from any 206 or does it have to be exactly the same, i.e same engine size and a CC or could it be from any 2.0 206? I am at my witts end, The immobilisers repair guy said he would only charge me £60 to fit all the above and get it started, provided i get the parts.

Punk :firedevil:

First off have you had all the code read on the ECU? Seems a lot of hassel to go to if it is something simple like having the codes read and reset or just a soft boot of the BSI

The ECU needs to match the engine size so if your is a 2.0 liter then it needs to come from a 2.0 liter car
The 206 GTi uses the same engine as your CC so you can get all the parts it from a salvaged GTi

You'll also need to get an immobliser from the same car

Replace the ignition barrel first Wink

ECU, BSI and Transponder need to be from the same engine and electrical system as yours.

Or just take the immobliser off of yours, only need to cut two wires.

Immobliser is part of the BSI, and needs to match the electrical system as well as the engine Wink

Thanks for the prompt reply, was expecting to wait at least a few days...should have got into this interwebs thing along time ago, The problem is, is that, i am sick to death, If this will resolve the problem then id rather just do this, instead of taking it to Pug dealer just to be financially raped, I am at the moment unemployed after 6 years Sad ...anyway enough of the violins, just want to get it sorted..... as no one can actually resolve the problem,

Transponder aerial would be first thing on the list to change.

Oh cool, Lee. You mentioned cutting two wires to disable the immobilisers, Most of the " professionals" i have spoken to say that it is not possible to remove the immobilizer as it is built into the ECU ? My heads gonna blow....

Load of bollox Laughing

The immobilser isn't even in the ECU.

You just need to start the engine [when you get it going], unplug the ECU, and cut the two wires to the BSI.

If you tell me your chassis number, I'll tell you which wires.

I think it will just be the aerial tho tbh, common failure

So would change that first before you go cutting any wires

Im just sick to death of being told A million different things. When i got the car it seemed to start fine, Sometimes it will start, but most of the time it will not...
