#1: any ideas what this could be? Author: posi_gti, Location: swadlincotePosted: Thu Apr 07, 2011 12:03 pm ---- right, put petrol in my car, drove around 25 miles on the motoryway then the car started to judder, got a bit further then eventually the the car came to a complete stop. it starts first time. there is also a bit of a nasty smell when standing at the back of the car. I can drive for 10 minutes then it started to judder again, then i turn the engine off, leave it for a couple of mins start it and its fine! after a few times a antipollution fault message showed on the computer, and a yellow light on the dashboard. any help would be appreciated

#3: Re: any ideas what this could be? Author: j3xoc, Location: bedfordshirePosted: Thu Apr 07, 2011 12:11 pm ---- could be few things from yes the catalyst to the coil pack, spark plugs i had this problem a while go and I'am sure it was crap in my petrol tank getting into my engine and had to get my coil pack changed as-well

If so,you better scan it,to see what is the exact error :),and you wouldn't guess then.
#5: Re: any ideas what this could be? Author: macca1411, Location: Westhoughton, LancashirePosted: Thu Apr 07, 2011 12:24 pm ---- As a matter of interest, how low was your fuel before you filled up and what petrol did you put in?
#6: Re: any ideas what this could be? Author: posi_gti, Location: swadlincotePosted: Thu Apr 07, 2011 12:34 pm ---- petrol light was on, and just put normal unleaded in
#7: Re: any ideas what this could be? Author: j3xoc, Location: bedfordshirePosted: Thu Apr 07, 2011 12:38 pm ---- probably have crap from bottom of your fuel tank getting into your filter and that would be best not to run nearly empty
#8: Re: any ideas what this could be? Author: posi_gti, Location: swadlincotePosted: Thu Apr 07, 2011 2:08 pm ---- if it was a bad bit of petrol wouldnt it clear itself after a bit? just been driving it around and it drives fine, just the yellow lights on and the anti pollution message on the computer. It also seems to misfire when left for a bit, before it starts
#9: Re: any ideas what this could be? Author: j3xoc, Location: bedfordshirePosted: Thu Apr 07, 2011 2:18 pm ---- yer after a while depends how much dirt has gone into it, mine did that and it was crap in my fuel pump and needed a new coil pack hope this helps mate was a while ago now best best is get i checked over
#10: Re: any ideas what this could be? Author: posi_gti, Location: swadlincotePosted: Thu Apr 07, 2011 2:23 pm ---- yeah i will do, it just got serviced too! so its going back to the garage that serviced it tomorrow
#11: Re: any ideas what this could be? Author: Matt, Posted: Thu Apr 07, 2011 3:15 pm ---- I'd guess at a coilpack.
Mine has done this twice. Last time was over a year ago now. Just leave it tbh. Unless it starts doing it regularly.
As for your petrol light being on I don't think that makes any difference to your problem.
#12: Re: any ideas what this could be? Author: posi_gti, Location: swadlincotePosted: Thu Apr 07, 2011 3:52 pm ---- if its the coilpack, will the light ever go off?
#13: Re: any ideas what this could be? Author: Still_Rolling, Location: KetteringPosted: Thu Apr 07, 2011 4:42 pm ---- I had a misfire a few months ago...
Went into limp mode on a dual carriageway, engine management light on, pulled over, turned the engine off on on a few times, it was still there...
Beat the coilpack with a stick, Fawlty Towers style, engine management light went off, 3 months later it's still running fine
Give it a try!!!
