right, put petrol in my car, drove around 25 miles on the motoryway then the car started to judder, got a bit further then eventually the the car came to a complete stop. it starts first time. there is also a bit of a nasty smell when standing at the back of the car. I can drive for 10 minutes then it started to judder again, then i turn the engine off, leave it for a couple of mins start it and its fine! after a few times a antipollution fault message showed on the computer, and a yellow light on the dashboard. any help would be appreciated

Is the nasty smell like rotten eggs? Catalyst on it's way out.

could be few things from yes the catalyst to the coil pack, spark plugs i had this problem a while go and I'am sure it was crap in my petrol tank getting into my engine and had to get my coil pack changed as-well

I think it might be dirt in your petrol tank,so change the fuel filter, and see how it's going, and do you mean by the yellow light "Check engine" light??
If so,you better scan it,to see what is the exact error :),and you wouldn't guess then.

As a matter of interest, how low was your fuel before you filled up and what petrol did you put in?

probably have crap from bottom of your fuel tank getting into your filter and that would be best not to run nearly empty Very Happy

if it was a bad bit of petrol wouldnt it clear itself after a bit? just been driving it around and it drives fine, just the yellow lights on and the anti pollution message on the computer. It also seems to misfire when left for a bit, before it starts

I'd guess at a coilpack.

Mine has done this twice. Last time was over a year ago now. Just leave it tbh. Unless it starts doing it regularly.

As for your petrol light being on I don't think that makes any difference to your problem.

if its the coilpack, will the light ever go off?

I had a misfire a few months ago...
Went into limp mode on a dual carriageway, engine management light on, pulled over, turned the engine off on on a few times, it was still there...
Beat the coilpack with a stick, Fawlty Towers style, engine management light went off, 3 months later it's still running fine Very Happy

Give it a try!!!

Question Never heard of that one before. Any idea how they fixed it?

they said they cleared it, thats they all they said, he said it came up on the dyagnostics as that. anyway droe my car to work today, put fuel in on the way back, and boom same problem again!!! called green flag and he did a diagnostics and it came saying fuel trim bank one, he said its likely to be the lambodo sensor? thoughts on that?

#19: Re: any ideas what this could be? Author: Timon2210, Location: Palestine PostPosted: Sun Apr 10, 2011 10:29 am
    ----
well this may cause the problem, because when the Lambada sensor is faulty, the burn of fuel is not good, which means that the spark plugs get very wet with fuel, which make it misfire and go off,so the spark plugs have to be dry and stay dry,so changing the Lambada sensor can fix the problem for you.

Note:change your fuel filter.
