#1: busted a screw head Author: bisphenol-a, Location: AntarcticaPosted: Mon Apr 11, 2011 10:27 pm ---- so i tried to remove the screw that was holding the third brake light strip case.
the long red one.
i took a small flat head philips and started trying to be gentle.
funny thing is.. the screw head just seem to go mashed and jello..
as tho the screw head was made of plastic.
did i miss out something here? wrong tool?
now i feel screwed.

Edit: I'll be more helpful... Where does your rear windscreen washer fluid come out of? the open the boot and look behind the brake light
#3: Re: busted a screw head Author: Matt, Posted: Tue Apr 12, 2011 1:40 am ---- Haha that isn't a screw. It's the hole for the rear washer jet.
Fail.
You need to open the bootlid to see the bolts for 3rd brake light
EDIT: this is EPIC and has completely cheered me up today, thank you

#6: Re: busted a screw head Author: DeadEyePaul, Location: Rugby,WarwickshirePosted: Tue Apr 12, 2011 4:15 am ---- You need a new brakelight now, there no plastic screws in that unit, it is held on by 2 nuts and 2 bolts. Once the nuts are off you have to lightly tap the bolts then pull it out from the visable side and unclip the washer hose.
To reveal the bolts you lift the bootlid up

Lesson for the day...if in doubt, use the search option.

#13: Re: busted a screw head Author: bisphenol-a, Location: AntarcticaPosted: Tue Apr 12, 2011 7:04 am ---- hahah
im totally comfortable being laughed at. everyone has such moments..
besides lucky for me.. when i saw the 'screw' not turning i decided to stop and post.
i dont have to get a new brake light. it still squirts perfect onto the window.
now im on a mission changing every bulb in my car.. currently on the w5w bulb sets.
brighter than the old original. using philips blue vision if anyone is interested.
but if anyone can recommend anything brighter whilst remaining legal.. do please share =D
#14: Re: busted a screw head Author: macca1411, Location: Westhoughton, LancashirePosted: Tue Apr 12, 2011 7:13 am ---- It would be difficult for many people in UK to comment on what bulbs are legal in Australia. We are covered by the "e-mark" which is governed by Europe.
I don't know if you have similar guidelines in Australia, but would be worth checking the local laws before buying something that is recommended by someone in the UK.
Edit. Which part of Oz are you in? I have quite a bit of family in Adelaide. Last edited by macca1411 on Tue Apr 12, 2011 7:31 am; edited 1 time in total
#15: Re: busted a screw head Author: bisphenol-a, Location: AntarcticaPosted: Tue Apr 12, 2011 7:27 am ---- i understand.
i was going to check if its approved in my country for any mods/recommendations i pick up from this website.
funny thing is that from state to state, some take e-mark as good reference and allow it.. some dont. thats what i gather from the car forums in my area. but i have to check out..
for philips blue vision and the extreme power is the brightest allowed for street legal bulbs. thats about it.
