#1: I think my car is dying :( Author: alanamh, Posted: Tue Apr 12, 2011 11:56 am ---- Cut a long story short
A few months ago my car steering wheel starting shaking as I drove, I could hardly control it on the road so took it to local garage, said I had 2 misshaped tires at front and needed 2 new ones (the old ones had been on for 7 years) so had 2 new pirellis fitted and steering was fine. Took it back a few days later as tracking was out, got them to re set tracking and everything was fine again. However I have been back with the 'tracking' several times now and I know it shouldn't be going out so ofter. Decided to try another garage to get a second opinion and they have no idea what to suggest. Every time the tracking gets reset as soon as it goes on the road it goes out again. I AM STUCK and alot of money out of pocket, someone please help me the car is virtually un drivable at the mo with the steering

(No it wasnt mine)

#11: Re: I think my car is dying :( Author: jase123, Location: yorkshirePosted: Tue Apr 12, 2011 12:14 pm ---- is it a constant pull to the left? or is it rendom? more like a skip to the left? it is french and bushes do tend to wear out quit often. i had a horrible skip to the left on my 180 that turned out to be the bottom arms. take it to wilco motorsave as they do a free suspension test and will get a bar and check all the suspect bushes
#12: Re: I think my car is dying :( Author: macca1411, Location: Westhoughton, LancashirePosted: Tue Apr 12, 2011 12:25 pm ---- If you are getting the tracking done and then it is out again, obviously the garage don't know what they are doing or saw you coming. After the second time of going back, they should have realised that something else was wrong and began investigating deeper.
How many degrees is the tracking moving by? Are the garage telling you it's the tracking, or are you just guessing that as it's pulling? You say the last set of tyres were on for 7 years, how many miles had your car done in that time? Was it off the road, if so for what reason? Just trying to discover if there are any other circumstances that may cause the car to pull. Just because it's pulling, doesn't mean it's the tracking.
#13: Re: I think my car is dying :( Author: Quarmbo, Location: Bristol & LeicesterPosted: Tue Apr 12, 2011 12:40 pm ---- Get the car up on a jack and see if you can wiggle a wheel (holding it quarter to 3 etc)
#14: Re: I think my car is dying :( Author: alanamh, Posted: Tue Apr 12, 2011 3:35 pm ---- steering rack has already been changed, suspension is fine. not sure about the old tyres as i only bought it last may but had done about 41k. the garage said they will investigate it further for me they havent charged me for the times ive gone back so i know they aren't ripping me off. and its a constant pull to the left, like if i dont steer it i'll end up on the curb!!
#15: Re: I think my car is dying :( Author: Seabook, Posted: Tue Apr 12, 2011 3:45 pm ---- probably bended bottom arm or something similar then
