#1: wiring help please - reversing lights Author: jojot197, Location: WarringtonPosted: Thu Apr 14, 2011 9:10 am ---- The reverse lights still don't work on my 2002 206 1.4
I know the following:
fuses - all ok
Reversing switch - new one just replaced
Bulbs - all ok
wiring circuit from switch to bulbs - ok (power added to wires just after switch and lights come on)
there is definately power going to the reverse switch from the blue wire that traces back to the fuse box.
so this is why I'm stumped! such a simple circuit but I can't figure out why it isn't working.
Are there any relays that I should be aware of?
What else can I check?
ps. this is the only fault on the car. obd2 diagnostics all clear. No warning lights on dash etc..

If they are phase 1's, the backing has proberly corroded away

EDIT Damn it, The doorbell went as started to type so Addaz beat me

They say that who ever wired them in may have done it badly but the lights worked with out any problems for the last couple of years (since I bought the car).
They stopped working recently when I had a problem with the car, it was cutting out when slowing down to stop at junctions and the speedo had stopped working. I got an auto electrician out who identified the problem as being a break in the blue wire that I mentioned above. It runs from the fuse box in the engine bay, into the wiring loom where it then runs through a connection and splits off in to two directions: 1 to the reverse light switch and 1 to the ecu. Once this was fixed all the problems were solved apart from the reverse lights still not working. Autoelectrician said switch must be faulty.
Took car into garage for cv joint replacement and asked them to replace the switch - they did but they said that the one they took out was fine, but because it was only £8 they changed it anyway.

Say to him you think he might have done it by accident, that's what it sounds like to me. Either a break or not connected at all
