#1: North West Meet - Trafford Centre Manchester Author: drunknmunky, Location: Blackburn and Catterick PostPosted: Fri Apr 15, 2011 3:51 pm
    ----
Right as the new area reps me and suicidal have decided that we need to meet each other and as many of our local members as possible pretty soon.

We have decided that me and suicidal and any others attending will be meeting at the trafford centre in manchester on the 28th of this month, we know this is short notice but its more of a meet and greet so we have some faces to put to names and to get an idea of how many people we have in our area.

Start time: 7pm
Meet place: Car park for Trafford centre off junction 9
We will be staying around that aea till roughly 8:30pm to allow everyone to arrive and for incase people have difficulty getting there
Contact No.: 07543156166
Thats my number and i expect to be first there as im off work and have nothing else to do so if your having problems getting there or anything call me.

The trafford centre was chosen as there are places to grab food if anyone gets hungry and toilets to hand, also everyone knows where this is (i hope).

If not many people can make this it is fine there are going to be more meets more often now but i would like as many as possible to come to this as i am going to be away for a month as of the 11th may so would like to get to know who is who before then if possible.

Thanks and post your interest in here and hopefully i will be seeing plenty of you people soon Very Happy

List of people coming:

We do realise we have taken on a big area in the north west and will try and make meets across most areas of the north west so as everyone gets there fair share of meets that are close to them Wink

It will be Tom, This is just a quickie as it were so Me and Adam can Meet each other as well as anyone who else want's to turn up. Get a idea of what people like doing etc. We can then hopefully plan a few big meet's during the year and smaller one's around the north west so everyone can join in.

EDIT - I type so slow it's untrue.

For everyone who may be interested in this we are looking at possibly moving the timing to later or earlier as i have been informed by someone that at this sort of time the traffic would be awful where as if it was made to be more like 4pm would be quite or say 8pm it would be quite but the time we have picked would just hit with peak time of traffic on the motorways so whatever is best with the majority we willl go with Smile

#19: Re: North West Meet - Trafford Centre Manchester Author: macca1411, Location: Westhoughton, Lancashire PostPosted: Sat Apr 16, 2011 4:24 am

I would do the later one. Need to organise somewhere on the car park to meet as it is vast, and so many entrances.

Is that halo thing still above Haslingden. Keep meaning to have a ride up to see it. How close can you get in a car?

#20: Re: North West Meet - Trafford Centre Manchester Author: drunknmunky, Location: Blackburn and Catterick PostPosted: Sat Apr 16, 2011 4:29 am
    ----
Good point about the car park will have a look at this and see if we can pick a certain section hopefully its not too full so that we can all park near each other dont want to be all parked all over the place

#21: Re: North West Meet - Trafford Centre Manchester Author: Matt PostPosted: Sat Apr 16, 2011 4:59 am
    ----
You'd better off meeting near chillfactor and jib soccerdome. The car park there should be pretty empty. So everyone should be able to park next to each other. Then if needs be drive somewhere else (urmston retail park perhaps) if people want food?

#22: Re: North West Meet - Trafford Centre Manchester Author: macca1411, Location: Westhoughton, Lancashire PostPosted: Sat Apr 16, 2011 5:22 am

Jct 9 entrance is usually dead. Car park goes all way to motorway.
Asda just behind Trafford Centre has a Mcds in and Krispy Kreme doughnuts is next to that. B and Q across road too. TBH Trafford Centre does get hammered until 10 at night. Chill Factor sounds a good idea.

Maybe if a few coming from East Lancs, Bury might be an idea sometime. Pilsworth Road area. Might be easier for Rochdale crew too.
Lake district cruise in the summer anyone?

I am trying to plan a meal at The Bell House (Parrs Wood) in East Didsbury. It's a 2 for 1 place with whats supposed to be Europes largest wacky warehouse attached, so good for all the family. Will discuss with reps and come up with something.

#23: Re: North West Meet - Trafford Centre Manchester Author: drunknmunky, Location: Blackburn and Catterick PostPosted: Sat Apr 16, 2011 5:32 am

Me and suicidal have had plans for a summer meet in blackpool if possibe a convoy along the seafront then park up somewhere and off onto the pier maybe even the pleasure beach and whatever else anyone fancys could be made into a big one if there is enough interest, also planned was a convoy through the lights when they switch them on blackpool illuminations convoy would be good.

These are just a few ideas me and suicidal have been playing with up to now but cant set anything in stone yet as we havent even had one meet and got to know people so were just going to take things slowly for now

Although we are the area reps we dont mind other people putting in so if like macca you have ideas or have been planning stuff then drop me or suicidal a pm or just pop your ideas into this thread and we will do our best to work with you guys and get many more meets going Wink

Might have to attend this one in the Punto, My Tensioner need replacing :(, If people think the Trafford centre will be to busy we should change to chillfactor's car-park and as for the time I think we can just say if your not there before 8pm you might have to call me to see if we have moved on, If anyone want's my number to do this just let me know.

As pointed out there is a car park on the trafford centre that wont be busy you come off at junction 9 instead of 8 as 8 is the junction thats always busy, which you would still use to get to the chill factor.

As for time i think we should have it at 7pm then its not too late should still be light to get some good pictures and the traffic should have died down by then. We should also stay in the one spot for an hour to allow everyone to arrive just for incase Wink

Trafford centre car park at junction 9, I will get there a little bit earlier than 7 so either look out for my silver 206 or if it's not fixed a light blue Punto 06 plate. But it should be fixed by then because I really don't like driving the Punto.

Ahh its ok we are hoping to get more and more meets going in the north west so no doubt there will be plenty more you can come to

btw my car is nowhere near ready my wheels are in s**t state but its just one of them things aint it your car doesnt have to be looking perfect to show up Wink

Right im gonna ask now that anyone whos coming for sure can put there name down and i will update the first post with a list i will try and add the people that i can see are coming form here but inform me if i miss you off

Just to clarify also me and suicidal will be at the car park for the trafford centre next to junction 9 at around 7pm and we will stay there until 8:30pm (was gonna be 8 but 8:30 to allow for anyone getting caught up somehow) once everyone is there we will decide what to do from there wether we grab a bite to eat or whatever Smile

Cant wait for this to come together oh and bring you cameras Very Happy

As long as it's not on weekends (work Sad ) I would definately be up for it, right now my rear axle is in pieces and I'm not insured so it would be difficult Laughing

I'll be there, hopefully with my new alloy rim highlights on! My alloys are a bit battered, so when the highlights come they'll look better than they do now!

#44: Re: North West Meet - Trafford Centre Manchester Author: drunknmunky, Location: Blackburn and Catterick PostPosted: Thu Apr 21, 2011 3:55 am
    ----
jameso dont worry about it man my alloys are well and truly battered im in need of some new ones but have some ideas flowing for a very special set of wheels but they are gonna cost me a fortune to get them Sad

the list is now up on page 1 and updated as far as i can tell Smile

and sorry to hear you cant make it then harry but as said there should be more of these popping up now with the area reps in place so just keep your eyes peeled and hopefully we will see you at a meet soon Very Happy

#45: Re: North West Meet - Trafford Centre Manchester Author: jameso, Location: St. Helens, Merseyside PostPosted: Thu Apr 21, 2011 3:59 am

I've looked at getting new alloys, but I really like the ones i've got now, so when the highlights come, i'll sand the edges down and apply them. Got them the same colour as the car, so they'll look the squirrels minerals.

I think i'll be bringing the +1 with me, she will want to nosey round the shops while we're there so i'll keep her sweet for a bit!

#46: Re: North West Meet - Trafford Centre Manchester Author: drunknmunky, Location: Blackburn and Catterick PostPosted: Thu Apr 21, 2011 4:05 am
    ----
Yeah fair one im only looking at getting new ones cause there gonna be something i aint seen done before on a 206 and because refurbing my current ones would cost a third of the money im gonna end up spending on some very special wheels

dont wanna give anything away on them though as someone may read and try and get them before me as has happened with on of my previous ideas, but i will say this much there deep dish, split rims but not having a chrome lip well not normal chrome anyway Wink

Amended the first post for your +1 mate Smile

No problems, I understand. I hate it when someone dun stealz ideas form me, so I know how you feel about keeping it hush hush.

I saw Addaz's 206, and his alloys are unbelievable. Very nice indeed. As I say, I just want to tidy mine up a bit, so the highlights look a good idea. I'm also looking at lowering, but in two minds at the moment.

#48: Re: North West Meet - Trafford Centre Manchester Author: drunknmunky, Location: Blackburn and Catterick PostPosted: Thu Apr 21, 2011 4:16 am

Yeah well the other thing is the wheels probably wont be ready till next year either as i wont be using them in winter thats what my oem wheels will be for Very Happy

Plus i have just found something else to spend money on Laughing my brother took me mountain biking recently to a place near us called gisburn forest and i loved it but i was using my dads bike then took a few does on my brothers and it was awesome doing jumps and riding down trails it can take anything but he has talked me into getting one as there on 0% finance but they are like £1500

That picture is a photoshop on addazs iirc but they are gonna end up like that which will be awesome i agree

Lowering is one of those things though some people like it others dont, im lowered but im lowered on some of the more expensive coilovers as i think it makes all the difference spending a bit more on them cause as they always say you get what you pay for.

Dude, £1500???

I've got a bike, full suspension, 20 gears, a seat and handles no less, £140, halfords mate! haha! Save yourself some more money, trust me!

I do think that 206's look great lowered, but I don't want to go really low, I just want to make it look smarter. I'm looking at some on demon tweeks now, could be a done deal over the weekend looking at this.

trust me the things you buy from halfords wouldnt even handle the jumps and trails i go down, this bike im talking about is like proper freeride/mini downhill mountain bike for serious riding we also have another trail near me so it will get used enough to warrant £1500 aswell as i will probably end up upgrading it anyway

look it up its a scott voltage fr30 and believe me for these trails you cant buy a £140 bike it would snap on the first drop off Rolling On The Floor Laughing aswell as the angles not being correct Wink

Your looking at lowering springs then im guessing? Well if it helps you why dont you wait till you have been to this meet and see others that are lowered maybe even take a quick spin in them then you get a feel for it Wink

Dont forget the back is torsion bar if your gonna do that so that could be hard work as i found out with mine Laughing

#55: Re: North West Meet - Trafford Centre Manchester Author: jameso, Location: St. Helens, Merseyside PostPosted: Thu Apr 21, 2011 4:44 am

Ok, i'll give a few of the other cars a view first, get an idea. And the torsion bar nightmare is something i've read up on a few times from guys on here. I may just ask someone else to do that, got a few peeps who could sort it for me.

And as for the bike thing, i'm happy just bumping up kerbs when I go for a ride with the missus, or if I decide, on a rare occasion, to ride to work to keep myself on my toes!
So if you're planning on jumping over double decker buses, and flying through trees, then I agree, miss the Halfords bikes and go for a proper one! Laughing

That's not good, what's the problem? And my alloys aren't that bad, it's just kerb marks from the last owner. It still makes you a bit wary of them.

Oooooh, a little something special eh?!

When these highlights come i'm just going to sand down the edges of my alloys, it's going to be hidden behind it anyway so i'm not fussed how they look after i've sanded. It just needs to be smooth so it doesn't look like a bumpy zit!

I don't see a problem with peoples cars looking a mess. Mines fairly standard, but now the nicer weather is here can start doing little bits to it.
It will be pretty good to see the differences towards the end of summer on everyones cars.

Original glazed all round tomorrow (need to take some home though otherwise I will be sleeping in the car)
