The steering wont lock unless the ignition key is removed from the barrel.

All that is happening is you are loosing the power assistance to the steering Wink

When it looses power with it still in gear and therefore the engine is turning does the rev counter drop to zero? Or does the rev counter still show the correct engine speed?

No its not a common problem, but i guess the car is a very early model maybe a S/T reg. So after the amount of time thats past, things start failing like the fuel pump.

Has the fuel filter ever been changed?

Its still 4 years old.

The cutting out problem was fixed by Peugeot before they built your car.

When was it last serviced?

Can I just ask, because I can't remember... my mind is like a sieve

What exactly did Peugeot do to fix this problem and when did they resolve it?

There have been many issues / fixes carried out over the years, anything built after late 2005 should be pretty much problem free as far as the cut out problem goes.

It WONT be the cut out problem, it was fixed well before your car was thrown together Wink

Its under extended warranty, take it back to the dealer.
