Been an interesting read Bri, loved seeing the car when you drove it back up to Fife!
You've done some great mods to it and really made it your own, whilst keeping it smart and discreet, I definitely like the stuff you've done. Thumb Up

Yeah it was a good day Gaz! Rather memorable, I remember that feeling of turning the wheel for the first time onto the road off Tony's street and going....oh yes, yummy car!

I'm not right in the head when it comes to travelling for cars, Graham's even worse for agreeing to take me there! Laughing Defo worth it though! London to scotland was via birmingham back-roads! Laughing Southampton was well...just FAR. Soon to be going to North Wales via Coventry too........ Rolling On The Floor Laughing

I tried connecting up the yellow wire from the back of the head unit from the cigarette lighter so that the H/U switches on when the car does. This didn't work and i blew a fuse in the bsi as there was a wire kicking about behind the head unit which was shorting...strange as the one that was shorting was covered in insulation tape... Shocked Anyway, that's all sorted now and my wallet's a little lighter after that experiment Evil or Very Mad So i'm just going to have to live with turning on the h/u with my finger!

I did however manage to sort a few other things out with the car though 2 things were getting on my nerves/were a little unsafe with the original audio install i did:

1. For quickness when i originally installed everything, I had the power lead running up the side of the wing...FIAL.
2. The ipod cable was just put in through the front of the glovebox.

So....to resolve these problems I have:
1. Re-routed it through the bulk head and tidied up the wiring out of sight!
2. I had to remove the cd changer in the glovebox to drill a hole in the plastic in the bulk head next to the loom anyway, so i've just left the cd changer out for now anyway as I don't need it/cant use it/takes up space in the glovebox. There was now plenty space to bring my ipod lead into the glovebox.

Results are as shown below! Smile

Engine bay before (how horrendous was this?!):

And now:

Wires are well tucked away behind the alarm doo-dah jiggery pokery box of tricks.

And the fuse holder is mounted on the back of the battery box at the bottom, there was a handy clip on the back to clip the power cable into as well to keep it neat. The rest of the wire is tucked into another set of wires.

Much better Very Happy Albeit, the glovebox is a pain to get back on so I'm going to tackle this when it's stopped raining...It's half screwed on at the moment. Whistle...

It just won't clip in at the top DOH!!!

Brian, didn't you swap the wire from pin 4 to pin 6??? on the connector that goes from the headunit and connects to the cars power connector, the yellow wire is in port 4 (I think) which is the bsi connection. stick it in pin 6 and you're ready to rock.

if it's in pin 6 then move it to pin4.

I remember bugawuga putting a how-to up, but couldn't remember if it was the old forum. I did it with mine and I'm sure others have done it as well

Yeah i remember the guide. It worked on Graham's car then when he tried it off the top of his head it didn't work. So looking at it with the layout being as below with the earth cable on the bottom row. is it numbered like:

1 | 2 |
3 | 4 |
5 | 6 |
7 | 8 |

Is that the 2 wee wires that arent: ignition live, live and earth? iirc 3 and 7 are usually yellow/red and 8 is earth or something along those lines?!
