Hi there,

I have been reading these forums for a while, before they went offline and signed up again when they came back but this is my first post, great forum you have here and some very useful tips - hoping you can help with this one.
My girlfriend has a 207 which every now and again (got more frequently recently) won't start unless you press the accelerator. My 206 also does this but a lot less than the 207, mine seems to be when the engine is hot. I'm presuming this is something to do with fuel not getting to the engine?? Anyone happen to have any ideas what this could be? I'm an IT engineer so you can assume I'm pretty simple when it comes to engines.. Cool Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Darren

Might need scanning to see if there are any fault codes.

Either a fueling problem like the pump or the coolant temp sensor

8 or 16 valve engines as the 1.4 lump comes in both versions in both 206 & 207.

How do I find this out? Under the bonnet I presume..?

Open the bonnet & have a look.

If you have a silver rocker cover with the oil filler cap slap bang in the middle its an 8 valve lump.

one possible cause...maybe your fuel line needs a bit of a clean....you can get a single does of red-ex to put in your tank. might make a difference. You dont run your cars close to empty on the fuel guage regulary??

Could it be a problem with the ICV?

Hi, thanks for that. Both the 206 and 207 have the oil filler cap in the middle so it must be an 8v - some more info, my 206 seems to only do it when the engine has been running for a bit and its warm - starts first time with the accelerator pressed. The 207 does it at random times and is becoming more and more frequent - no pattern to it and again it fires up when the accelerator is pressed. Not too fussed about the 206 at this moment, however if someone can advise on the 207 that would be great.. If it can be done at home please let me know, if it needs to go to a garage then so be it!

Cheers.

Both of these are gonna have electronic fly by wire throttle set ups.

The throttle pedal isnt mechanically connected to the butteryfly in the throttle body, its worked by electronics - hence fly by wire.
