#1: Nightmare on Good Friday Author: 360mods, Location: NewcastlePosted: Fri Apr 22, 2011 7:36 am ---- Firstly I would like to wish you all a happy Easter, I wish mine was a happy one
I have a 2000 206 1.9 diesel style,
Its been a great little car until this morning
My problem started with my key fob ( single Button ) having no light on when I went to open the car this morning,
I had a replacement battery which I have fitted, Now I can not open the doors or start the engine with the key. Opening doors manualy no problem car turns over but will not fire, I hear a clicking sound for anout 5 secs coming from the fuel pump area when I turn the key to start the car ??
I have used the search facitlity and found several posts similar to mine I have tried all the methods to resynch the fob to the car but to no avial
I have also read about the transponder moving or being lost from the fob when replacing battery and not working ??
I have included an image of my fob internals to see if that is the case ??
The image link is shortened so if you can not see it please try ge.tt/36jTL07 to view
As I can appreciate this is easter weekend and a lot of the regular users from here will be away, As we should have been I have 1 very upset wife today
Any help would be much appreciated
If any more info is required please post
I apologise if this has been covered before but i just need to be sure 1 way or another regarding the transponder issue
Thanks for reading and I hope your easter break is going well

Sounds right.
Follow the main battery - lead down to the top of the gearbox & check it hasnt snapped, give it a tug as they can look perfect but be broken, common problem .
If that lead is ok check the battery connections & the battery condition.
#6: Re: Nightmare on Good Friday Author: 360mods, Location: NewcastlePosted: Fri Apr 22, 2011 7:59 am ---- I have just chaecked the lead down to the gear box and all seems fine
The battery on the car is as good as new, Tried a jump start from a new VW this morning also it seems more like an issue with the fob as I siad in my earlier post I cant use central locking to unlock the car anymore
I have tried this method
CENTRAL DOOR LOCK (1 BUTTON PLIP KEY)
1. Ensure all the doors are unlocked using the key.
2. Press and hold the plip key button until the LED stops flashing.
3. After releasing the button, the LED will light constantly.
4. Press the Plip Button once, and the LED will extinguish.
5. Open the door and hold the Plip key near the Ignition switch, and press the plip button one time.
6. Turn the ignition ON, and wait 10 seconds, then turn ignition OFF.
7. After 5 seconds the Plip should now operate.
But this doesnt work is There any other method to do this and also there is the clicking noise when I turn the key to the mark after A, heater plugs light goes out, Car then turns over great, but will not fire ???
#7: Re: Nightmare on Good Friday Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Fri Apr 22, 2011 8:02 am ---- The non working plip WONT stop the car starting.
Turn the ignition OFF & with the key still in the ignition open the drivers door, do you hear any beeping?
#8: Re: Nightmare on Good Friday Author: 360mods, Location: NewcastlePosted: Fri Apr 22, 2011 8:11 am ---- No beeping
#9: Re: Nightmare on Good Friday Author: Seabook, Posted: Fri Apr 22, 2011 8:12 am ---- have you got a spare key to try?

#11: Re: Nightmare on Good Friday Author: 360mods, Location: NewcastlePosted: Fri Apr 22, 2011 8:14 am ---- No spare key, I will go recheck all fuses now
#12: Re: Nightmare on Good Friday Author: 360mods, Location: NewcastlePosted: Fri Apr 22, 2011 8:30 am ---- checked all fuses in the cab and in the engine comp with meter all ok ??
#13: Re: Nightmare on Good Friday Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Fri Apr 22, 2011 8:34 am ---- The transponder aerial is around the end of the ignition barrel.
Check the conection, try disconnecting / reconnecting it.
#14: Re: Nightmare on Good Friday Author: 360mods, Location: NewcastlePosted: Fri Apr 22, 2011 8:54 am ---- Well that didnt work bugga to get the covers off my torx was to fat
I wonder if a Peugeot immobiliser has ever been cited in divorce case before ;-(
#15: Re: Nightmare on Good Friday Author: glenpring, Location: KENTPosted: Fri Apr 22, 2011 9:12 am ---- You not got the aa or something like that they might beable to find the probably??
#16: Re: Nightmare on Good Friday Author: 360mods, Location: NewcastlePosted: Fri Apr 22, 2011 9:16 am ---- no unforunately not looks like a recovery to my nearest pug dealer after easter which will go down great with the missus
#17: Re: Nightmare on Good Friday Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Fri Apr 22, 2011 9:24 am ---- Id be tempted to try a replacement transponder aerial from a scrapyard first.
Make sure it doesnt rattle when you shake it.
#18: Re: Nightmare on Good Friday Author: 360mods, Location: NewcastlePosted: Fri Apr 22, 2011 9:29 am ---- Another question would an autolock company be able to come and do this rather than the cost of recovery
#19: Re: Nightmare on Good Friday Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Fri Apr 22, 2011 9:31 am ---- Changing the transponder aerial is simple diy.
Peugeot Planet is the best thing to scan it with.
An auto locksmith should be able to sort the immobiliser out.
#20: Re: Nightmare on Good Friday Author: 360mods, Location: NewcastlePosted: Fri Apr 22, 2011 9:34 am ---- thx for your help so far what connector do i need to connect this car up to check it

#21: Re: Nightmare on Good Friday Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Fri Apr 22, 2011 9:36 am ---- The diagnostic socket is behind the flap by the drivers right knee, turn the plastic screw with a coil then lift up / unclip the flap.
You should have already seen the diagnostic socker if you have been in the cabin fuse box
The transponder aerial is just a simple connector plug
#22: Re: Nightmare on Good Friday Author: 360mods, Location: NewcastlePosted: Fri Apr 22, 2011 9:43 am ---- yes ive had the transponder off no problems and reseated, looks like a autolock man on Tuesday, Cant see what happened parked up outside home last night locked fine came outside today and nothing, what a nightmare on good Friday anyway thx for all the tips, Just a pity couldnt get it away the missus is well Pi**ed at me, Enjoy the rest of your weekend

#23: Re: Nightmare on Good Friday Author: pwbadi, Location: RomfordPosted: Mon Apr 25, 2011 1:44 am ---- same thing happened to me when I had my Vauxhall Astra. When I changed the FOB battery, a small chip had dropped on the floor and as a result the car got immobilised.
We then had to get another chip and reprogramme.
I am not saying that this is the case with your car, but it could well be a possibility
