#1: Fed up with the damn thing!!!!! Author: alanamh, Posted: Tue Apr 26, 2011 1:51 pm ---- My car starts jolting when I do speeds over 50mph, especially over 60. Why is it doing this? I have checked the pressure, all fine, I've had the car tracked and laser aligned the tyres, I have also had 2 new tyres at the front but have since swapped them to the back of the car.
I'm running out of things to do and money to spend!!!!!

#3: Re: Fed up with the damn thing!!!!! Author: Addaz, Location: SuffolkPosted: Tue Apr 26, 2011 1:59 pm ---- Bottom arm is knackered
Will be the first bush after the pin in the hub
Check both sides to find faulting one, or replace both

Author: alanamh, Posted: Tue Apr 26, 2011 2:01 pm ---- I can't remember what it's called but I paid to have something replaced I think it might of been the ball joint. It was something to do with the steering wheel like a ball on a stick lol - im not good with cars
#6: Re: Fed up with the damn thing!!!!! Author: alanamh, Posted: Tue Apr 26, 2011 2:02 pm ---- wheel balance is fine

Author: macca1411, Location: Westhoughton, LancashirePosted: Tue Apr 26, 2011 2:11 pm ---- When you say jolting, do you mean a vibration which can be felt through the steering or the feeling slowing down momentarily then speeding up as if flipping the accelerator.
#9: Re: Fed up with the damn thing!!!!! Author: alanamh, Posted: Tue Apr 26, 2011 2:12 pm ---- just checked the invoice, it was the steering rack
#10: Re: Fed up with the damn thing!!!!! Author: alanamh, Posted: Tue Apr 26, 2011 2:14 pm ---- maybe jolting was wrong word, erm swerving quickly, the tracking is fine drives in a straight line but any fast speeds and the car will sway sharply to one side. if u know what i mean?
#11: Re: Fed up with the damn thing!!!!! Author: Seabook, Posted: Tue Apr 26, 2011 2:18 pm ---- lol why change the steering rack lol

#20: Re: Fed up with the damn thing!!!!! Author: M60SHW, Location: CarlislePosted: Tue Apr 26, 2011 2:57 pm ---- If its not the wishbones get a garage to have a look at the hubs, as it sounds like the wishbone has been able to move in the cradle in the bottom of the hub making the hole wider and not getting a good grip (this is more or less impossible to check with out having a good luch at the bottom of the hub)the can rusult in it "jolting " every so often when accelerating and breaking
this what was wrong with mine I replaced everything and was confused then looked at the hub when it was on the floor and clicked haha £25 from the scrappy jobs a good one
