#1: thinking about respray Author: anton7350, Location: Northern IrelandPosted: Sun May 01, 2011 10:51 am ---- Ok so after looking at my paint work and the amount of dings all over the body work I think it would be time for a respray. The car is currently indigo blue (EGJ) but I was thinking if i could get away with painting it a different shade of blue without having to pay a lot more for matching the original colour. The colour I was thinking off was Volkswagen Biscay Blue Metallic, I know it will probably cost a bit more to buy the paint as its metallic but what do you guys think about the cost and how it will look?

Will you be going down to bear metal and taking everything off including taking the engine out. If do with all the prep work that is involed its going to cost a lot of money.
It will be cheaper to get the dings done and paint it the same colour.....

You can get your whole car wrapped for under £800 if you can beat that with a respray or even get within £750 ill be impressed.

The engine wouldn't be removed as I don't think I could do all that myself but the windows will be removed as it needs a new windscreen due to deep scratches, im just trying to gather all the options that are open to me but I may have to go with the original colour.
as for the labour cost it would be my mates dad thats going to be spraying it on his down time but its gonna be at the end of the summer till he can do it so if i can get a decent price to get it done sooner and i don't mind doing the prep work to get it that bit cheaper as iv helped out a few mates doing this before but do you guys reckon for that colour its gonna have to go back to metal???

thats what I was thinking about doing, the car is just a plaything for me atm and i plan on keeping it for another while, im wanting to go down the euro look and i thought that colour would complement the car better, it just something different here as all my mate have silly wee saxos and corsas that you can hear a mile off and they just look like wee McDonald's racers lol

I dont mind doing the prep myself if it dosnt need to go down to bare metal which I why I was asking advice here, just something I have been thinking about for the past few days.
