#1: Floppy indicator fix? Com2000. Author: stevesey, Location: BristolPosted: Sun May 01, 2011 11:31 am ---- We have the usual floppy indicator problem (cancels too easily and goes from right to left when canceling after a corner).
Electrically all is fine so I'm tempted to take the com2000 out and have a look at the mechanicals. So couple of questions:
a) Has anyone tried this?
b) Anyone have a dead com2000 I could have a look at first? (Will pay P&P of course - or pick up from Bristol/Swindon).
Results will of course be shared.
Cheers
Steve

#3: Re: Floppy indicator fix? Com2000. Author: stevesey, Location: BristolPosted: Sun May 01, 2011 11:49 am ---- Thanks Lee - do you know if streching/padding the spring or similar can fix it. Given how expenive they are I'm suprised has investigated further and produced a how to (here or elsewhere). Or are people just frightened of the amount of disassembly (of airbags/electronics) in order to get to the mechanical bits to fix it.
#4: Re: Floppy indicator fix? Com2000. Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Sun May 01, 2011 11:51 am ---- Id much rather just put a new replacement com on with a warranty, there cheap enough if you look in the right places
The original com units where poorly made, no wonder PSA Peugeot / Citroen found a different supplier

Just clean it all up, check the contacts, freshen up the grease. Thing springs in pens are the same or similar.

#9: Re: Floppy indicator fix? Com2000. Author: stevesey, Location: BristolPosted: Tue May 24, 2011 2:02 pm ---- Removed and stripped down according to the instructions on the 406 site. Any grease on the indicator mechanism had gone waxy, so freshened up with some silicon grease. Removed spring and padded out with a small piece of rubber dropped in the end of the recess. Indicators seem much more positive and seem to cancel properly - will put back in car tomorrow and see how it goes.
#10: Re: Floppy indicator fix? Com2000. Author: stevesey, Location: BristolPosted: Wed May 25, 2011 5:43 am ---- Re-fitted and....
no change really . Despite feeling more solid - it will still go right to left when cancelling.
Think I have made a slight difference though as when combined with the foam fix (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBBeRvig-tw) it does seem better than it was before (only time will tell). Almost perfect even - certainly liveable with.
I modified the foam fix slightly my just cutting a slot and pushing the foam over the stalk. This seems to work damping the stalk movement, but not adding any tension when in the left/right position as the stalk can move in the slit.
