Turned out to just be the tensioner. Its adjustable in 2 ways- 1 part manually and other automatically. The manual part needed adjusted so it was holding the belt at the furthest most point, then refitted the belt and all is spot on! Was only noisy at tick-over with mine..

How do you adjust the belt tensioner manually then, i've never heard of this.
