If you search you will find threads on how to check the battery and alternator.

It is the original battery?

You can go to your local halfords who can do a battery and alternator test for free and that will tell if they are both ok Smile

If you go to Halfords, they are likely to say you need a new battery just to get a sale.

Get the multimeter out and check it yourself.

I steer clear of anywhere that offer a free check as there is always a catch somewhere, and if you are going to them in the first place, usually means you haven't got a clue and they can rip you off. Kwikfit are the perfect example. They tried to tell me once when having a tyre fitted, that my shocks had been fitted wrong, it backfired because I produced a 6 month old receipt which showed they had fitted them.

If you have breakdown cover, get them out. They will check it and tell you the truth as they don't want to spend longer on it than necessary.

I know you've paid for it. But I'd feel a t**t calling them out just to do a battery test.

But a multimeter. It'll be the best £20 you ever spend

I work at halfords and i always show the customer the screen on the machine which checks the battery, wether its a good or a bad battery. I've never lied to get a sale and they don't expect you too.
