#1: Temperature Question (1.4 16v) Author: DJ-, Location: UKPosted: Mon May 09, 2011 1:11 pm ---- Hi
The fan doesnt seem to be kicking in at all so the engine gets hot.
I read this can be the thermostat or temperature sensor. Does anyone have an opinion on which I should change first?
Also to note when the AC is on, the temperature goes down but the Fan does still not come on.
Any ideas? Does anyone have a pic of where the thermostat and temp sensor are located on a 1.4 16v?
Thanks

#7: Re: Temperature Question (1.4 16v) Author: DJ-, Location: UKPosted: Mon May 09, 2011 2:05 pm ---- I do but its useless as I dont know how to set it to tell me the exact voltage still ...I could only tell if its getting power or not. :/

#9: Re: Temperature Question (1.4 16v) Author: DJ-, Location: UKPosted: Mon May 09, 2011 2:06 pm ---- Well i was just told that the car got hot, then it started beeping and the stop light came on.
Then apparently the fan came on when the needle was in the red zone on the temp reading

I probably have similar issues with my car at the moment too, in that I just don't have a temp reading at all. Just sits at 0.

Lee, what do you think I could check with the multimeter? Could I check the fan switch with a battery or something?
maybe the low speed relay i read?? whatever/wherever that is??

Coolant sensor looks like this
#13: Re: Temperature Question (1.4 16v) Author: DJ-, Location: UKPosted: Mon May 09, 2011 2:27 pm ---- ok! Dont suppose you have a picture of where its located?
#14: Re: Temperature Question (1.4 16v) Author: Seb, Location: Under your bedPosted: Mon May 09, 2011 2:35 pm ---- If it's anything like mine it's pretty obvious, sticking out the side of the engine on the right hand side.
