I have a friend that has a Vauxhall Nova and he was telling me about how he's buying/bought some gas struts for his bonnet.

I quite like this idea, because I think it is unique and quite modern, so was thinking of trying it.

Just wondering if anyone has done it before, or if there are any kits sold to do it?

Orr, if anybody knows a way I can do it/any ideas would be appreciated.

thanks

If I had a nova I'd have gas struts to save my arms wearing out through the constant opening of the bonnet to fix it.

I'll be fitting gas struts, the set up off the 106s onto my XSi. It's going to be difficult as the position is going to be everything but we will fill tweek the whole setup so it opens enough for me to work on the car but not vertical like the 106s.

Nah there for lazy sods who cant be bothered to lift the bonnet or use the bonnet prop when its open Wink

Been a few people on the forum saying they where going to fit then on there 206 over the years, normally ends up to much work when they look in to it & they dont bother

Couldn't you just use the same ones that are used for the boot?

i would of thought that the bonnet ones need to be smaller and thinner!

Depends what pressure they are inside.

Gas struts come in different lengths & pressures, fit a to powerful strut on & the bonnet will shoot up Laughing

The pressure is normally marked on the gas strut in Newtons.

I wouldn't have thought the boot struts would be a problem, the boot doesn't exactly shoot up, well mine doesn't.

I suppose it would just be an issue of where to attach them under the bonnet
