#1: My Pride & Joy Author: michaelbishop, Location: Ireland PostPosted: Tue May 10, 2011 12:05 pm
    ----
Hello folks Waving o/ , I've been reading through the project cars topics for a while and I decided to give it a go as I have pictures of my car the whole way throughout from bog standard to the way it looks today, its not heavily modified but I like it. I went with the theme less is more. It was very clean when I got it back in Jan 2008. Only 30,000 miles on it and never missed a beat. Here it is in all its glory when i first got it

First steps were little ones as it was all I could afford, out with the standard number plate for a nice plain one with no EU symbol, also put on a little chrome tailpipe because the standard one was nasty looking. Confused

The fist big splash of cash came inside with a DVD player head unit, it comes two remote controls and has several aux in slots so I stuck in my old PS2 under the passanger seat, iPod connections too. Its great because I can download music videos from YouTube and burning them onto a disc.

Next came LED tailights which was the first real mod on the outside

Finally time to stop rocking the hub caps. Very Happy I got these tidy alloys for my birthday off my parents, they came from a breakers yard so I'm not sure of their origin, all I know is I've only ever seen one other pair like them

Went online and found an alloy wheel brand called MB Italia, seeing as my initials are MB I bought 4 centre caps for the alloys to make them unique Cool

For Christmas I got some angel eyes, I have know idea where these came from as they weren't genuine Angel's, they weren't what I wanted but as they were a present I kept my mouth shut and made the best of them Rolling Eyes

To match the LED tail lights i bout myself an LED 3rd brake light from ebay, It really suits the tail lights and sets them off

Brembo 'upgrade' came next, bought the stickers off eBay, wire brushed the calipers and painted them glossy black

Cheap little mod next and it was these LED side repeaters, cant remember exactly but it was between £10-£14 forthem on eBay, had to get rid of the dull standard phase 1's that were on there
OFF

and ON

I bought a primed spoiler for £40 posted last summer and then college and studying kicked off and I forgot about it (and ran out of money) until a month ago

Failed my MOT with those headlights so time to splash out on some lovely genuine Angel Eyes, got them put on last month at the same time as the spoiler Very Happy

Other miscellaneous little mods:
Heko wind deflectors (word of advice, the two little sticky bits at both ends aren't enough to hold them in place, my passenger one fell out after a few months, stick on a few little bits of double sticky tape for extra security)

World Rally champion sticker to mark the 2000 & 2002 World Rally Championship titles. Found it on eBay. Nice little touch in my opinion.

Nürburgring sticker, would love to take it round one day for a laugh, a little 1.4hdi doing a lap, hopefully it takes less than a day! Very Happy

On my list of things to do, although its more of a wishlist at the minute with no job and more exams to do is:
Colour code the black bumpers all round
Phase 2 boot strip
Sp front grille
Tint windows all round
Screens in the rear headrest
GTI rear bumper with dual tailpipes

Any constructive criticism is welcome, hope you like my little car. Go easy on me, as the title suggests she's my pride and joy! Smile

Sorted it now, thanks for the heads up

Thanks for the compliment, yea i suppose it has come quite a way, its funny looking at the first photos. The angel eyes are great looking on and off, bought ice white H1's for the fogs and HID effect parking lights to compliment the angel eyes!

I looked online at cars with rear wind deflectors on a 5 door and it made the car look too much like a family car, took the slick look away that I was going for.

Just did the front half of the calliper as that's more than you can see from the outside with the spokes of the wheels. Also they're only the stock callipers which are small and full of gaps, I was afraid of painting something back there that shouldn't be painted! Very Happy
