#1: Autolights Author: pug206lx, Location: Taking a gearbox off somewhere PostPosted: Tue May 10, 2011 4:38 pm
    ----
Anyone got any advice on this?

My auto lights are activated and normally switch themselves on only when the wipers are on a constant speed and when the light level gets very low.

Was pressing the button on the end of the indicator stalk yesterday while driving - no reason why, and now the lights seem to turn them selves on when passing under trees and through other shadows. Driving it earlier it seemed to be randomly turning them on and off all the time during daylight and then they eventually stayed on.

The auto wipers are working fine.

Have I accidentally messed with the sensitivity by pressing the button? There's nothing in the manual about sensitivity options so does anyone have any idea / experience with this?

The car is a 2003 multiplexed GTi. Don't think the software has ever been updated.

Thanks in advance Smile

You can only adjust the sensitivity with Peugeot Planet & thats only when you set a new sensor up.

Mine had to have the sensor replaced under warranty as the auto lights went mad all the time in daylight.

You could try rebooting the BSI unit.

Sensor area clean?

Might be worth trying to adjust it with Peugeot Planet.

My autolight's are a bit like that, Switch on when it's broad daylight etc, I have just switched them off, It's not like it's hard to switch them on myself.

Sensor area is a little bit dirty because the car has been used a lot recently and havent really had the chance to wash it.

Ill give it a wipe off when i get the chance and see how it goes.

MOT is up tomorrow as well Laughing

Today i left them disabled yet on my way to work the lights were on...

Also for some reason the trip computer which i reset whenever i fill up the fuel (which i also cleared for sure about 60 miles ago) now says 705 miles since it was last cleared??!!

Very strange!

Can't tell if you're taking the p**s or not lol. Is it really that much hassle to flick a switch when you get in?

Have you tried activating them with the button on the end of the headlamp stalk?

They could have been turned off permanently in the BSI configuration set up to hide a fault with the sensor.

Try activating them as it shows in the owners manual & see what happens.

Nope its not affecting the real mileage. The trip on the MFD says 23.6 as well lol. Im not that bothered by it. I just get in the car some mornings, look at the display and think... "am i seeing things?" lol

Question

What She Said

Just because it had sp stuff like arches doesnt mean it will have morettes at all. Its a different option altogether. And no, changing to crystals from morettes in any case wouldnt affect the autolight stuff

Got all sp factory fit except lights and car came with original brochure and receipt which states it had them

thats fair but you said "full sp pack so should of had morettes". I was just stating that it was seperate options, as mine came with sp pack options but w/o morettes. (original receipt in hand too)

I have a sensor if you need a new one.

It is a single unit with 2 sensors.

Is it a common fault? Just looked on eBay and looks like there are two versions? If it's the 1 I need I will have it
