#18: Re: Car overheating help! Author: MrBSI, Location: What's it to you? ? ?Posted: Sat May 14, 2011 10:43 am ---- not ideal to drive it, make sure the temp doesnt get to high else it can blow the head gasket. Last edited by MrBSI on Sat May 14, 2011 10:49 am; edited 1 time in total

#22: Re: Car overheating help! Author: leigh_boy, Location: EastbournePosted: Sat May 14, 2011 12:27 pm ---- i know this sounds odd, but i have known people to put the thermostat in the wrong way, id be temeped to take the thermostat out and drive it that way if it runs cool you know you put it in the wrong way
#23: Re: Car overheating help! Author: DJ-, Location: UKPosted: Sat May 14, 2011 12:28 pm ---- hehe thanks but I def put it in the right way! Also the car was acting up before changing the thermostat too. (Just tested the old thermostat and it worked fine). What a waste of money!!
#24: Re: Car overheating help! Author: leigh_boy, Location: EastbournePosted: Sat May 14, 2011 12:35 pm ---- sounds like needs bleeding or water pump then,
#25: Re: Car overheating help! Author: DJ-, Location: UKPosted: Sun May 15, 2011 8:34 am ---- its going to be bled tomorrow then if that doesnt solve it then waterpump+belt+tensioners change.
I dont get why the thermostat doesnt open though. The housing side is warm pointing that the coolant is hot but the other side of the thermostat is stone cold hence the radiator being cold.
Unless that means there is a air pocket like right next to the thermostat?
#26: Re: Car overheating help! Author: leigh_boy, Location: EastbournePosted: Sun May 15, 2011 1:24 pm ---- its not opening because there eis no water moving around
#27: Re: Car overheating help! Author: DJ-, Location: UKPosted: Sun May 15, 2011 2:49 pm ---- oh ok. sorry still trying to figure out the cooling system properly!
#28: Re: Car overheating help! Author: DJ-, Location: UKPosted: Mon May 16, 2011 4:51 pm ---- all sorted now. new waterpump.cambelt and radiator.
#29: Re: Car overheating help! Author: -RAJ-, Location: COVPosted: Mon May 16, 2011 6:35 pm ---- dont know if this is relevant but my engine temp sensor was changed by pug last week for free, as there was a recall on it
#30: Re: Car overheating help! Author: DJ-, Location: UKPosted: Mon May 16, 2011 11:25 pm ---- probably not now but nice to know! Ill have to check if mine was recalled for the change and anything else if there was!
